I have always loved Kane. He was the second wrestling shirt I ever bought. The one with the burning cross and his name over it. The first being a Jake the Snake one

I have said this several times, but there are a few people who I would love to interview for Monster Crap and Kane is one of them.....because I have heard he is very humble and I sure he would be able to create a few laughs.

My biggest dissapointment this year was being robbed of a Kane/Edge Title feud when Edge was injured. The first time Kane was announced as the number one contender I MARKED.

Really Awesome. Probably in my top ten of all time. The man has NEVER lost his heat, despite being jobbed out since.....1998?

Why not call this topic
"The Big Red Machine" Kane
Using his real name just rubs me the wrong way.

Kane is definitely one of the best big man wrestleres there has ever been and can cut a heck of a promo, but they buried what potential his future could of had when they made him drop the mask and place him in one embarrassing storyline after another I think your missing what's so amazing about this. Anyone else, after all that, would be done for. Wrestling fans would no longer like him and smarks would complain about him. But, he's still awesome, the crowd still erupts for him, and here we are talking about how great he is. Exactly. Kane is great becuase even if he's buried for a year with loss after loss, inane storyline after another, he can instantly, within one week, become a credible monster again.

What made Kane so effective as a character was the fact that he was sincerely imposing and compelling. Here was this ratty-haired, muscle-bound half-brother of a character many of us grew up with, that being the Taker. When Kane debuted, I felt the same kind of intimidation and bad-assery that I felt when I was just six years old and watching Brother Love bring out the Deadman.
However, since this period of wrestling was on the very cusp of the Attitude Era, we didn't think of him as a scary individual. He was embraced like a total bad-ass machine, complete with a look that was tribute to the classic 1980s horror villains like Myers and Voorhees. Add to that...he was given the total character package by McMahon (awesome pyro, incredible theme music), and made himself look like an emulated version of the Undertaker.
This, alone, is why I could never put Taker above or below Kane, the character...who knows what could've become of the Taker without Kane...but not many can doubt that the addition of the half-brother character gave the Taker's character more longevity.

I give Jacobs all the credit in the world for not throwing his hands up in frustration and leaving. The man was Fake Deisel (suck), Isaac Yankem, DDS (megasuck), and a God damned CHRISTMAS TREE. For God's sake, the man either loves the business or they have some serious blackmail on the guy.
Then, they gave him the Kane gimmick which, by all rights, should have been short lived. Yet, he's made it last. Through a voice box, DX wannabe phase, love triangle featuring X-Pac (poor bastard), necrophelia, unmasking, and constant burials, the man has remained over. Top it off with the fact that he'll put anybody over and do it convincingly, while maintaining hsi heat, and the man is, in my estimation, the biggest asset the WWE has, period. You want someone to point at, and tell the young guys coming in "that's what a professional is", then you've got him right there.

I respect Kane alot, but he hasn't really done anything for me since he lost his mask. I think he's pretty much done everything he can do in the WWE and its all downhill from here. I don't believe he should have a title reign or beat the Undertaker at Mania as people on here often suggest.

I love this thread.
Anyway I shamelessly signed up at the Wrestlezone forums a while back.
Never posted once until I asked this to that ugly hermaphrodite Kevin Kelly:
Kevin,
I'd like to get your thoughts on Kane and indeed the man behind the gimmick- Glen Jacobs?
I often hear so much positivity about Jacobs, with him supposedly not being ego driven and being one of the nicest guys in the business.
Do you think he has been under-utilised in his career in WWE? Surely a man of such talent should have been champion for longer than 24 hours? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin replied:
You are right in what you've heard. He really is one of the nicest guys I've ever met.
As good as Kane is, he's successfully carved out a great career proving that you don't need the title to be a huge star. I think they did Kane a disservice by removing his mask but that's my feeling on it.

Glenn Jacobs is easily one of the best "big men" ever in the business. He is sort of the hoss version of Jericho or Santana. He helped make the careers of Batista, Umaga, Khali, and now he seems to be on the way to helping "re-make" Big Daddy V. Despite his advancing age, he remains a very talented worker in the ring, and clearly dedicated to doing the best possible job he can.
I will admit, I was for a long time surprised that he never held more titles. However, I think he is one of those rare kind of wrestlers who does not need a title to look like a star. Even though he has laid down for countless matches, including with opponents almost literally half his size, he still comes across as an unstoppable monster. He knows how to play the character for all it is worth. And I give him even more credit for being able to make the character work despite all the changes it has gone through. I do hope to see him get one of the main titles again, just once. But with or without it he is one of the all time greats.

He's not the best ring worker, but he has (or had) the look, the charisma, the great gimmick, and some great matches. Him kicking out of three tombstones is still chilling, and despite the huge erosion of his character since his last face turn, the fans still pop for him and the wrestlers still sell the fear of him.

well you just, you go young man, right now, to your room, go on, go. Now, where were we, oh yes, big red machine. I would like him to get a run with either WWE or WHC title, but instead of building it up (which at the end of the day would make people think "oh yes, here we go again, another push for Kane that's going to lead nowhere"), have them do one of the old "I'm the champ and I challenge anyone in the back to come out, anyone at all." Kane comes out, and chokeslams the current champ three times. The last slam, Kane picks the other guy up off the mat and gives him the chokeslam as an exclamation point rather than because he needs to. It would come so far out of nowhere that the buzz they would get would be spectacular, and it would cement Kane's position as a big, tough badass who can demolish you at a moment's notice. Follow it up with a reasonably long feud where the former champ battles to get his title back, and you have a few months worth of storylines in the bag right there.

Kane just randomly coming out and destroying Batista for the title would be pure greatness. Bonus points if someone else starts to come out after the challenge is set, and Kane comes out behind him and destroys him first.
