It appears as though the Cruiserweight title has been taken off the SmackDown Superstars page on WWE.com - normally if a title's vacant, they'll say it's vacant. Looks as though Hornswoggle's the last champion.

They do need a lower midcard title in general.
Perhaps have it so that a new (European, TV) title is defended each PPV against anyone on the roster. Then for the month in between it is defended only on the brand of the current champion. (Sort of like the Undisputed Title)
I'd say have an opening three way match between The Miz, Hardcore Holly and Jamie Noble. Have Holly win so you have the man who demands respect from the rookies as champ. Then build some storylines around it.
Cody Rhodes could continue having matches trying to earn Holly's respect. Meanwhile on smackdown Kenny Dykstra and Shannon Moore could have a mini feud to see who should get a shot at the title at the next ppv. Whilst on ECW ... Elijah Burke could turn face and maybe make an offer to GM Estrada that is he can beat BDV at some point over the next month he can get a shot too and bring the title to ECW.
The only limitations to the title are that if you have won the IC, US, or a main event title you can not fight for it.

I don't think it's going to be brought back.
It hasn't been mentioned for months. I think the last time it was mentioned was the week after Hornswoggle gave up the title.

Does anybody really give a flying smurf about the title anymore? I say replace it with either the European, TV, or Hardcore title, that way, it isn't restricted by weight limits.

That's what killed it. Chavo and Helms as champs, dominating the belt for more than a year and a half. No wonder no one cared. You can only have Jimmy Wang Yang lose so many times before people knew he wasn't getting the belt.

You can only have Jimmy Wang Yang lose so many times before people knew he wasn't getting the belt. In my opinion, the real issue there is that there's no competition for the belts, since creative split the rosters without really thinking about the division. Londrick and Super Crazy would be great cruiserweight contenders but they're both on Raw for some reason. You're right that the title just rotted on Chavo's and Helms' waists, and it happened for the same reason JBL had such a long title reign. There wasn't anyone else there to challenge for it. The division is also screwed because, again, the company's flagship cruiserweight is now a main eventer who wouldn't, and shouldn't touch that title with a 10-foot pole. |

They'll resurrect SOME belt at SOME point. They always do. They seemed really pleased when they killed the IC belt a few years back, but it didn't stay gone long now did it?
