For a sec, I thought this thread was gonna be about how tonight was reminiscent of a RAW from nine years ago.
But yeah, anyone who watched WWE wrestling in the late 90s were treated with some great shows week in week out. The problem was, though, it made a lot of fans spoiled and anything less is a disappointment to some. The Monday night wars were a great time to be a wrestling fan. Competition breeded some entertaining stuff.

Agreed. However, we cannot deny the fact that WWE on the whole has been on a downward trend entertainment wise since the failed Orton Experiment of 2003. 4 years of slow decline, and seemingly no end in sight until VERY recently. Sure, the gems were in the rough, and the occasional upswing (albeit very short) occured, but it hasn't been exactly worthwhile sometimes.
So honestly, I don't think the comparison is very indicative of things.

Cool, thanks for posting this. I was at this Raw. I still remember Stone Cold ripping off the suit, and DX pissing on DOA's bikes. Good memories.
Plus, I saw Edge and Val Venis in dark matches before their WWE debuts.

Anyone else think that Dan "The Beast" was simply just to far ahead of his time? In 1998 I don't really think MMA had taken off as well as what it is right now. I think bringing in a legit MMA athlete to the WWE and giving him a solid run would be quite interesting. I'd love to see something like this happen.
“The Iceman” Chuck Liddell comes to mind. I remember having a conversation with a customer at work (I work in a video store) when The Condemned first came out on DVD about who could kick whose ass, Chuck Liddell or Steve Austin (Chuck has a roll in the film “Bobby Z” which came out around the same time as The Condemned. That’s how the conversation first got sparked)
I can’t wait to sit down and watch the rest of these clips. It reminds me as to why I’m a wrestling fan to begin with.

Wow, nobody gets reactions like McMahon did, anymore. He just walked out and the boo was near deafening.
LOL! Did anybody else see that Alabama Slam? It's weird seeing it as a normal move.

Now, if someone like Rampage turned up with an MMA fighter gimmick, that would make for something far more interesting. What's Bob Sapp doing these days?

Is this the RAW where Triple H calls X-Pac a camel, on account of how much he pisses?

Is this the RAW where Triple H calls X-Pac a camel, on account of how much he pisses? The very same. Now there was a gimmick that would've got him over - X-Pac: Pissmaster

Every time I see videos from that era, I'm shocked at how much more the crowd was into in those days

shamrock would beat up anyone. i liked him. x pac looks smaller than chyna and she has slitly less face hair. triple h is the bomb. i have dvd of the time when austin killed shawn michaels right out of the wwe when ken shamrock punched his lights off. what a loser is shawn michaels. he took 5 years away to come back from stupid punch to his face. shawn went to priest school to learn to be more of a loser.
