I don't know if this has been brought up, but with the looming writer strike I think it might be a good time to bring back the XFL. It wouldn't need writers and would fill up time on TV with something other than reality shows.

I think McMahon learned his lesson about what happens when you mess with the NFL...the hard way.

I think this is a non-starter. Vince doesn't like to be reminded of his failures.

No.
In theory, the XFL was a good idea and a potential multi-million dollar league, but it was very poorly executed.
It's dead and buried. Leave it that way.

I liked how they ran after the ball instead of the coin flip.

I love in the McMahon DVD how Vince pretends it wasn't a failure and that it was indeed a success.
I want to believe he still cries himself to sleep over that.

I would say if they start the XFL again, try to compete with Arena Football instead. But now that the AFL is under the ESPN banner of "let's try to make people like this sport", I don't know how the XFL would do.

They should have scripted the XFL. That would've been SO AWESOME.
Imagine.
4th Quarter. 0:05 on the clock. Babyface team is down by 4 and on their own 30.
Quarterback hikes and tosses a quick pass to a WR who bolts pass the cheating heels going for clips and trying to hold. The WR shakes off the remaining defender and takes off down the sidelines!
He rumbles. 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, BOOM! The opposing coach has a player on the sideline tackle the WR. Definite penalty, but you CAN'T award the points.
Ball gets put on the 1 yard line and the Babyface team fails to get the game winner. The win totally stolen from them.
That is Heel/Face 101, Football style...or at least in MY mind it is...

Maybe if they change football to Football (s0ccer). Have matches over pits of lava and the like. Sharks. The ball randomly shoots out metal spikes.
Thats Xtreme!

Yeah, I get booed because I would rather watch some type of football (even if it is total crap) than the next edition of "Survivor: Who gives a damn?"

Ok... to be honest, your quote makes sense. Football= good. But bad football = bad. It's a simple equation. But you are right, when I want a good boo this man, I'll scope out a BH4E thread

I think most of the viewing public would rather watch reality shows.

I think most of the viewing public would rather watch reality shows. And I agree on that. I was just saying that given a proper relaunch and retooling this would be a way to fill a time slot with something else. There is a decent demographic for football on prime time television. If they could get the general public to give a crap about it I think it could work. It would take a lot after the failure of the first launch of it. But I say there could be an audience for it in the time of the NFL's off season.
