It's just the era itself thats a problem. Everything has to be catered to an audience that expects something to be happening every moment. Today's beatdowns are too common. My favorite beatdown was when Nailz destroyed the Bossman and Bossman reappeared like five months later to threaten Nailz.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. Hardyz Versus Two Man.
Best segment I've ever seen.

The beatdowns of today seem to be more about the heels humiliating the faces rather than trying to put them out with some sort of injury. That is why I got no problem with it.

I think it's just a lazy way of adding some sort of drama to a feud before a ppv.

The last good one was a couple of years back when Guerrero beat the living piss out of Mysterio at the end of a SD! episode. Rey sold it really well.

Yeah, I'm the same with this. It's happening too often for my liking. If they are going to do something like this, make it a huge deal and have the 'victim' take a few weeks off to sell the beating. It would make their eventual match so much more important. See HHH from Umaga and ORton

I agree...
Weekly "almost fatal" beatdowns get old quickly, and look silly if the guy's back the following episode, only slightly bruised.
But how could they fill 52 weeks of TV without recurring to formularic events?
They can't afford the "luxury" of taking a top guy off air just because they're selling a beatdown.
The best point in this thread though is about episodes being "conclusive". They should, once in a while, go black BEFORE we actually watch how the confrontation, staredown, beatdown ends.
Sure, there would be tons of spoilers in a matter of minutes, but it'd be a decent way to keep folks interested, instead of having fans watching out of sheer habit.
