I bought an un-dubbed version at a convention, and I still watch it all the time. It's definitely one of the last great WWE PPV's. Sandman's entrance is awe-inspiring and Awesome/Tanaka is in my top 5 of greatest matches of all time.

A really good ppv.
The Mysterio.Psicosis match kinda sucked. Benoit/Guererro was below my expectations.
The wwe invasion was incredibly stupid. I can understand them wanting to bring interest to the ppv, but I would have preferred a few more matches instead of wasting time talking to Bischoff and Jbl.

Really? I thought that ONS2005 wasn't as good as 2006. I mean Awesome/Tanaka is by a country mile the best match from either show, but I think 2006 was better overall. But then, it wasn't really ECW.
I don't think Rey and Psicosis had enough time to go, and Eddie and Chris were both just a little bit off on that night.

It's just WWE's arrogance to thinking that no one would care about ECW without the WWE somehow involved

Good show. It is a great supplement to Hardcore Homecoming. I felt that both shows were a great way to say goodbye to ECW. Sadly, the only goodbye WCW got was the Invasion.
The cons of One Night Stand were: - Invasion - Eddie/Benoit - Cruiserweight match. - Some missing ECW performers, but I typically overlook that anyway.
Everything else was great.

Watching it that night it seemed like Eddie was stuck in kayfabe mode instead of just going out there like everyone else. He had just turned heel prior to this and he came out with that sort of sinister look on his face that he had at the time. I think it took away from it before the match even started, then he wound up having the worst match on the card.

The night that made me start watching wrestling again. I remember hearing there would be an ECW PPV. I hadn't watched since mid 2002. If it wasn't for this PPV, I would have never started watching again.
Stupid ECW and it's strangehold on me years later.

The only things i would have changed are:-
-No pointless invasion crap. -I wish Shane Douglas and Raven had been there.
Other than that, awesome PPV.

Eddie seemed too stuck in his WWE heel role to play the game properly that night.
Foley stank on commentary, except for 2 occasions.
1) His clearly heartfelt speech to Bischoff about ECW representing heart etc.
2) "With all due respect Joey, OH MY GOD!" "Bang Bang"

WWE had many chances with ONS 2 to make it as special as the first. For example, Kurt Angle's open challenge to anyone "from a four sided, six sided, or eight sided ring" could have been great. I remember speculation at that from Jushin Thunder Liger, to Ken Shamrock, to Tito Ortiz, even Great Muta. But who did we get? Randy Orton. Letdown of the year, if you ask me. The Balls Mahoney/Masato Tanaka was only there to push Balls (since he was in the new ECW), so it basically was a squash.
Having WWE One Night Stand 2007 was completely pointless. And having Lashley on the poster was an extra "screw you" to the ECW diehards.

Surprised a ONS discussion has went on this long without the posting of Sandman's entrance. Having been there during the show, I can tell you it was F****** AWESOME! I really liked Storm/Jericho best due to it being one of Storm's final matches and Jericho came out dressed as Lion Heart.

that is, in my opinion, the second greatest pay per view of all time. it made you feel glad to be a fan. the entire world could've ended right there, and i don't think half the people watching would've cared. i loved that show.

I love this PPV, as well as pretty much all PPV's in 2005 from WWE. Idk if anyone else agrees here, but 2005 was a great overall year for WWE. ONS was too great, I remember being hyped for this show before it ever came on and not being disappointed one bit. ONS 2 was great IMHO as well, the Rey/Sabu spotfest still gets seen here every once in a while.

I really can't think of another PPV that comes to mind that was as entertaining and awesome as ECW ONS. It was the perfect PPV.

I don't think we'll ever, ever see a show like that again. Such a shame that a great mind like Paul Heyman's is sitting at home, idle.
