The 0-0 draw may look boring, but it was the best way possible to "sell" the match.
It wasn't a fall-fest, there weren't interferences or cheap shots: it was the closest thing to "real" that WWF may have booked for a match like that.
To me it had the old-school feel of Japanese wrestling (was it New Japan?) from early 80s.
