Hmph...Morrison should have explained the Jim Morrison connection, instead of just rambling on in-character. But saying "Look, I'm basically ripping off an old, dead wrestler from the 60's to 70s" wouldn't have been as exciting.

Yeah, Ronson is a truly tremendous writer. Agreed, I love Jon Ronson, his article about his son's reaction to Benoit's death and how he dealt with it as a father was the first thing that made me laugh about the whole situation

I don't really agree that the fans never knew how to respond to Benoit, and that could be why he had to over compensate with more realistic spots. The guy was one of the most respected on the roster, and would get standing ovations after losing TV matches because people knew how good he was. His entire gimmick was that he was legitimately the best technical wrestler there and people believed it.
