Jimmy Rave and "House of the New Rising Sun". Oh yeah. I went there. Sorry... you're wrong. That theme is awesome and fits rave... and i"m not even a Rave fan. That song Rave came out to on Sunday in TNA...was that the old theme of Kazarian, The Naturals, or "FSN iMPACT!"? It had to have been one of the three, because when he entered, I had a 2004 flashback.

I can't believe they're leading off two weeks of Impact with...
Week 1: Black Reign vs. Shark Boy Week 2: Judas Mesias vs. Showtime Eric Young
Forget TNA trying to be like the Attitude Era, this is like WWF in 1996 before it got decent. Those four gimmicks are embarrassing. I can't believe they would really start two straight shows off with those kinds of matches. Guess last night's PPV was too much of a step in the right direction.

I highly doubt Rikiski's gonna be around after the Joe-Christian angle. He'll wrestle once or twice, his debut will be shown as #228 on TNA's 232 Greatest Moments DVD (because he's an ex-WWE star), and that will be that.

Rikishi looked very, very unhealthy (weight-wise) when I last saw him in AAA.

Nope. Just Southern Confederate Karate Rednecks from Middle Delaware. Nice. This should be a gimmick option on EWR.

I was more upset about Rave not doing a whole lot. His time will come. You know why? Because if it doesn't, I'M GOING ON A HUNGER STRIKE! Seriously, though, TNA wouldn't spend all this time trying to get Rave onto their show (they've been doing it since he was in the Embassy) just to put him in a throwaway team with Hoyt that doesn't go anywhere. (clutches tightly onto state of denial) I thought they presented Rave in a strong way, considering that teaming him with Hoyt and Hemme is essentially handing him a "Um...Good Luck, Kid" card. He hit some unique, crisp moves when he entered, Tenay and West put him over pretty strong, and then he disappeared into the battle royal like everyone else. If he stays with Hoyt/Hemme, maybe he can help save that whole trainwreck storyline with some good matches. My friend and I that watched the PPV haven't seen a lot of Rave, but we were impressed.

MCMG outlasted LAX, Team 3D, VKM, and five other teams and people are still complaining? Wow. They totally got buried TNA did so many things right on tonight's show (pushing MCMG to the end of the gauntlet being one), it's like they actually cared about the stuff we always whine about. First time in a while.

I really need to watch that damn ppv. Christian's speech to Tomko about his IWGP belt was before he told him and AJ not to interfere in his match against Samoa Joe. TNA's characters repeatedly made a strange point to beat the audience over their head that people would not be interfering in the matches. It was like they were kissing up to all 29 of us on the internet that still order their PPVs and don't "find" it online.

Thanks, what about Tomko's title belt that he wore and Christian made fun of him for it? Tomko had that IWGP belt at the PPV, and Christian not only mentioned Tomko's belt, but put it over, and apologized for making fun of it so much. This sounds like the kind of stuff someone would make up on a smark board, but Christian actually did this Sunday night...

I also hope they are getting paid for this. I know that at least when they were on Saturday's at 11, Spike wasn't paying TNA or vise versa. TNA's getting paid in the deal that's about to expire, and Spike's chipping in for large parts of Kurt Angle and Sting's contracts, because they want known "stars" on their network. And I assume Spike will be paying a considerable chunk of the contract for whomever the "former world champion" is that just signed, too, which would allow TNA to go out of their price range to sign somebody big. Also, I'd bet that the "former world champion" signing (with Spike's assistance) was one of the last details worked out before the announcement. Looking at TNA's history, I figure it's somebody with some name value. Every single time they've upgraded their TV, they scored big names to join on. Move to FSN = Jeff Hardy (just before the move), Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Randy Savage, DDP Move to SpikeTV on Saturdays at 11 = The Dudleys (and came VERY close to landing Mick Foley and Matt Hardy) Move to SpikeTV on Thursdays at 11 = Christian, Sting Move to SpikeTV on Thursdays at 9 = Kurt Angle Move to two hour slot= (__?__) I wouldn't be surprised if SpikeTV fronted money to help TNA steal a familiar, big ex-WWE name from the SpikeTV/RAW days for the big launch on October 4. And that wouldn't be a Sid or Sabu. To me, this narrows it down to Lesnar, Jericho, RVD, or Big Show. Knowing how well TNA kept the Angle signing under wraps, to the point that Angle was openly saying he wasn't even considering TNA...I'd bet it's one of those four names that seem the least likely or obvious to come in. So I'm thinking it's either Lesnar or Jericho, and Jericho wasn't seen on UFC last night, and isn't looking to concentrate on MMA. So, I'd think it's Jericho, and it seems like a pretty big coincidence that newz leaked recently of him leaning towards returning to WWE, esp. considering this is a guy who has fun working the 'net and newz reporters, then factor in the timing that the Jericho/WWE newz came the week of the SpikeTV announcement coupled with a major TNA talent acquisition. It makes far more sense for Jericho to return to WWE, but we don't know what kind of deal TNA/SpikeTV could put on the table for him, and with Spike's backing, it's probably more lucrative than we'd assume. I'm skeptical of TNA being able to pull in Lesnar or Jericho, but I didn't think I'd see Angle in TNA last fall either. And Kurt Angle's crazier than roughly 627 Chris Jerichos, so I'm not sure how much my bullshit theory/comparison to last year's Angle/TNA signing can stand-up in this situation. Oh well. We probably won't even know who it is until Oct. 4th, possibly the week before. Just wanted to offer up some stuff to consider for when TNA goes two hours.

A two-year extension with SpikeTV also means that TNA won't die through at least September 30, 2009 (when their TV extension would end, if not renewed by SpikeTV...or picked up by another network).
As majority owners of TNA, Panda Energy can't pull the plug on TNA's funding while they're on the new two-year SpikeTV deal. If they fold TNA, Panda leaves itself open to a pricey breach-of-contract lawsuit from Spike and their parent company, MTV Networks. Panda's such a cash cow that they can sustain whatever reasonable losses TNA has for a good long while, plus TNA being in the red eases Panda's bottom line to a certain extent due to the corporate tax breaks (which is why HealthSouth tried to "back" TNA as a write-off when they were going broke themselves). This extension gives Panda all the more reason to stay behind TNA, because they can get themselves in a mess with Spike if they cancel it.
That said, SpikeTV can cancel Impact at any time if they start drawing 0.6s or something, but if TNA was smart, they would've worked a non-cancellation clause into their deal, since they had negotiating leverage and interest from other networks. Which is why SpikeTV cut them such a sweet break to stay.
The two-year deal with SpikeTV is great news for TNA, as good or better than the two hour slot. So, I'm going to stop saying TNA's going out of business, since it pretty much can't happen until Fall 2009.

As far as I'm concerned, Hall wouldn't even need to wrestle! Just put him with Nash and the X-Division. Can you imagine how awesome that would be? I'm a huge Hall mark, so maybe I'm biased, but The Outsiders mentoring the Motor City Machine Guns or other X-Division stars in video packages would be two guaranteed minutes of TV gold for weeks on end.

I've seen this posted on a couple of newz sites that presumably steal stuff from the latest Observer (this wasn't in this week's Torch)...
Scott Hall Possibly Returning To TNA Wrestling?
Feelers have been sent out to Scott Hall now that he's gotten back in shape. Hall made a return to the ring in July. He won the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship within two days of his return and is the reigning champion in Carlos Colon's WWC. AAA is also interested in booking WWC Universal Champion Scott Hall for the promotion's Verando de Escandalo show on September 16th in Guadalajara. Sean Waltman recommended him to the company, since Hall has returned to ring shape. TNA has also sent out feelers to Hall. Hall will be turning 49 years old next month. He last appeared in TNA in January 2005.
...And just in case anyone asks, yes, Scott Hall was a world champion. From 1993-97, he was the World Champion of Being Awesome.

Why does Jericho appearing in WWE guarantee a Cena storyline? Just asking. I think they meant because he lost a loser leaves town-type match to Cena at the end of his WWE contract. Storyline wise, Cena got him fired from WWE.

The "newz" this week surrounding Jericho's almost definite return to the WWE is much like Angle's "newz" last year with MMA the week of the PPV, since Dixie Carter, Jarrett, and Kurt wanted to swerve the 'net.
Meltzer also said a month back on his radio show that he knows for a fact that Jericho's been watching a lot of TNA lately, paying very close attention to the product, and that he's really great friends with Christian, who absolutely loves it in TNA, and has nothing but great things to say about his experience there.
I know it's highly, highly doubtful, but Jericho to TNA wouldn't shock me.
