I think they tried to make the late Louie Spicoli in to a Chris Farley type. I heard the rumor The Shock Master was suppossed to be this monster heel but because he blundered at his debut they turned him in to this clumsy comic character.

Are you an old timer also?Yeah there probably were dirt sheeet s back then but of course I was in elementary school & had no idea where to look & had no friends who watched wrestling. Also back then if you were a wrestling fan, you'd get ridiculed hardcore for watching it & people would try to explain to you that it's all "fake".

Boy what a time!No internet or dirt sheets or anything to find out what really was going on behind the scenes or when someone got fired or was leaving a promotion & signing to a new one. There was NO information back then. When I first started watching wrestling in the 70's it was on local syndicated channels.Harley Race was the world champion, his name was always mentioned but I NEVER saw him or even knew anything about him or even what he looked like. For some unexplained reason, what ever wrestling program I was watching would be taken off the air with out notice.usually when it was reaching a fever pitch in the feuds. Then on another station a new wrestling program would be on with all new wrestlers which was hard to get used to.I'd wonder if Harley Race was still the champ & sure enough his name was still being mentioned yet who were all these new guys? by 1982 I was watching a Spanish speaking wrestling program called "Lucha Libre".The "World" tag team champions were the masked brothers Brazo De Oro & Brazo De Plata. One saturday afternoon after watching the Brazo brothers I came across the Phil Donahue show & the topic was pro wrestling & they had a whole gang if wrestlers in the studio including a guy named Hulk Hogan who I was familiar with.I recall 2 guys talking about how they hope to win the world tag titles from the champions who were sitting there.I believe they were Jerry Blackwell & Sheik Adnan Kaise. So I'm all WTF??I thought the Brazo brothers were the tag champs what's going on here??That was my ignorance as a young wrestling fan not knowing about the many different promotions & territories that were around at the time. That was the AWA that was on Donahue. It wasn't until a few years later when the WWF took off & cable TV entered the wrestling market that I finally figured this out.also reading wrestling magazines like PWI helped educate me.
So now NWA wrestling is on TBS & on local syndication.WWF was on USA as well as locally & the AWA was on ESPN.each with their own wrestlers & world champions. So now my family took an interest in watching wrestling with me.They liked WWF & Hulk Hogan of course.WWF was my least favorite. This is where I discovered the confusion & ignorance of the casual wrestling fan much like me when I was younger.I remember watching AWA & Nick Bockwinkle was introduced as the World champion & my mom who was watching said "I thought Hulk Hogan was the champ." so I had to enlighten her. Then she asked if Bockwinkle & Hogan will fight each other.I had an identical conversation about Rick Flair.
"Cowboy" Bob Orton & "Adorable" Adrian Adonis showed up on AWA as a tag team.I had a confused neighbor kid who was an avid WWF watcher that was wondering what this other wrestling program was that Adonis & Orton were suddenly appearing on it but no Hulk Hogan.I had to straighten him out. on WWF "Super Stars" They'd promote house shows at the Cow Palace & make these cards sound better than any pay per view.there was only 2 or 3 PPV's a year at the time & house shows actually meant something.I knew all ready WWF was nation wide yet on our local channel they'd promote the next house show like no tomorrow. How ever, when I'd watch "WWF Prime Time Wrestling" on USA on Monday nights, the house show wouldn't be mentioned but they'd list dates for live events all around the country & it seemed there was a show every night in every major city. That's how I figured out those interviews I 'd see on the locally syndicated Saturday morning show must have completely different interviews for these shows in the other cities & markets "Super Stars" aired in.So I was on to Vince Mcmahon's scheme! There was this 12 year old neigbor kid that was really excited about a Cow Palace house show they were hyping with Jake "the Snake" Roberts headlining. We lived 2 hours from SF at the time. This particular show was on a Thursday night. So this 12 year old kept asking me if it was going to be on TV.I had to explain to him it wasn't & the only way to see it, was to buy a ticket & go.I tried to explain how they make these house shows in each town sound like the event of the milleneum.Well come the night of this house show, the kid calls me up & asks me why he can't find it on TV ::)Some people never get it!

Yes! Yes! Triple Yes! I'm a HUGE Kazarian mark and the day he becomes champ is a great day in wrestling, especially with the Angles and Stings taking over. You Got Whiplash's Power & Pain as your Avatar!Classic Album!! I've got videos I've shot of Kazarian beating the James Gang in tag team action,Abyss,& DH Smith.2 of th ebest matches from this year were against "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels & AJ Styles as I mentioned earlier. He had a short stint in WWE 2 years ago & quit becaus ehe didn't like ho wthey did business there. When he works for BTW, he goes by "The Future" Frankie Kazarian.

Frankie also wrestles for Big Time Wrestling & I've seen him steal the show many times!Earlier this year he wrestled AJ Styles on a BTW card & brought the house down!He is tremendously talented wrestler & has one of the stongest work ethics I've seen(being an insider) so I 'm all for him winningthebelt & becoming a major player in the industry.

Remember this show Saturday mornings on USA?For a brief moment it was my new favorite show.It was a live interactive show where fans could fax,e-mail or call in & talk about Wrestling. This a was at the height of the Monday night wars.Originally I thought this was going to be another boring & lame rehash show recapping & showing everything that happened on RAW the previous Monday & nothing new. But with the viewer participation it was exciting.I was shocked on the debut episode when Sunny read faxes from fans asking about WCW & the NWO.That was taboo back then for WWE to even acknowledge or mention their competition. So the show was brilliant originally. Then some of the "live" calls appeared staged like when Vince Mcmahon was a guest talking to a caller about Steve Austin attacking Brian Pillman in his home & why weren't the police called. But that was okay.It helped forward the story line.Plus Vince Russo would appear on there(when he was a writer) as Vic Venom(?) & he would tell it like it is & address what was going on in wrestling even exposing Dok Hendrix as being Michael Hayes. It was a thrilling show. I marked out when Paul Heyman called in long before WWE & ECW ended up working together. It totally looked like a shoot!and it seemed this was a shoot show. All of a sudden the show began sucking the big one! There was a pay per view coming up with Sean Michaels defending against "Psycho" Sid.To me this was a"Who Cares?" PPV as Michaels had soundly beaten Sid on RAW before. To my shock all the calls coming in were asking about the PPV & debating who would win between Sid & Sean & you could tell these "live call ins" were staged. I was very disapointed in this broadcast & tuned in the following week hopping they'd go back to shoot talk on the wrestling world.Todd Pettengill comes on saying that on today's show they wouldn't have time to take calls & e-mails as they really wanted to focus on the events if that past Monday's RAW & regards to the up coming PPV & of course the entire hour was recycled garbage most RAW viewers all ready knew about. Then guess what?from then on that's all the show was!No more mention of being interactive it became another back up show rerunning the previous events of that week's RAW in one hour!"Live Wire" my Ass!I can't believe a few year's later when WWE came back to USA,they had a retrospective talking about "Live Wire" & how innovative it was that fans could participate but no mention how it went south & began sucking royally! I actually got to speak to Vince Russo at the recent Fan Fest in San Francisco asking him about it.he agreed with me how great the show was initially but then they changed it.He told me the company got panicked because the show was starting to expose too much about the business so that's why they changed it in to a generic rehash! ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png)

I hated the way both of Alundra(Madusa's) rematches with Faye & Nakano were set up when she won the belt back from both ladies. Instead of having it on a PPV they just showed it on RAW with no real hype to make it more dramatic. It should have been staged as the former champion trying to regain her title from this big powerful oppenent she lost to before. Instead it's made to look like the "Alundra Blayze Show" having her enter the ring after Bertha Faye with the lights out & pyro. Totally upstaging Faye whose supposed to be the CHAMPION.Was there any doubt who the star of this was & who was going to win? This was back when WWE was painfully predictable with no surprises. The only thing about this that's better than today's WWE is that these ladies were actually WRESTLERS unlike the no talent "Divas"of today that they try to fool us in to thinking they can actually WRESTLE. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) NO! This here that you just saw was WRESTLING & so is this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSAx25Cl2KkTo be fair, a lot of them today can wrestle. If you want an era to hate the title in, it'd be the Attitude one, no question about it. Which ones?Mickie James & Victoria are the only ones I've seen that can actually wrestle & are good at it.

A long time ago I was at a match where Hogan took on Killer Khan & he turned his head just in time & got his hair all green.I recall seeing some one duck & the person behind them accidently get it.
