Not sure where to post this so I figure here is likely the best place. A guy I work with likes wrestling and discovered that I do as well..that's fine, no issue with that. For some backstory dude is like 22...seems to be a massive fan etc, all fine no issues. He starts talking to me about wrestling...proceeds to start making a bunch of AEW jokes, telling me AEW fans don't shower..then tells me Jim Cornette is brilliant and his views on modern wrestling are spot on. Makes more jokes about AEW and empty arena's..tells me Tony Khan is a terrible person to work for. So at this point I'm thinking this dude is like every shitposter on twitter come to life.. So I say that's all fine and dandy but I watch wrestling for matches and bell to bell AEW is a better promotion...he argues in the absolute worst way possible in my view...he tells me the AEW guys are bad workers, Kenny Omega isn't a good worker, Ospreay isn't either they are "athletic" but they are just doing moves. Proceeds to tell me that the WWE restrictive style is the right way to do wrestling and then goes into a good 5 minute diatribe about how they "tell stories" where AEW guys just do moves. Dude then has no concept of what a fighting spirit spot is, calls Ospreay an idiot because "he wants to work in front of 5 people" then tells me he hasn't seen Omega/Ospreay or Danielson/Ospreay...but there's no way those matches could top Cody and Reigns because it "made me feel like a kid" and goes "those AEW matches don't have the Rock or Undertaker" At this point I just walked away because I was like bro is this a real person? I could really careless if someone thinks WWE is great, that's your deal but to be like Omega sucks he just does moves, and the telling stories diatribe, I hate that one MORE THAN ANYTHING. The WWE has been spinning that we tell stories bullshit for 20 years to cover for crappy matches. I have been watching wrestling since the early '90s and have no idea what a "fighting spirit spot" is. Is it like "Hulking up"? Kind of. It's essentially someone taking a strong move, and rising back up with the excuse of adrenaline to deliver an immediate counter. A Lariat or a German Suplex being the most common examples. The strongest Fighting Spirit is usually kicking out of a finisher at one, and this is exceedingly rare and not spammed

Another key of many "fighting spirit" spots is that the person rushing up on adrenaline will only have so much energy; they'll kick out at one, or get up quickly after taking a devastating move, might even nail a counter like a lariat or something, but it'll cost them and they'll collapse shortly afterwards.

Both WWE and AEW’s style of wrestling is not better then the other. Both companies had produced fantastic matches. Both Osprey/Danielson and Cody/Reigns were great matches for different reason. I know most here are soured on WWE because of the “WWE is hot,AEW is dying” narrative that is being pushed on the internet, but downplaying WWE’s in-ring product while defending AEW is just as bad as defending WWE and shitting on AEW. Both products has their pros and cons This right here 💯. I've encountered ignorant fans from both promotions who talk down to the other promotions fans.I favor WWE but there's stuff I like about AEW. How they treat legends ( something that always irked me for years with WWE ). They brought back one of my 2 favorite wrestlers in Sting, Then brought the other In Edge. Even had them in 6 man matches which is something I thought I would NEVER see. Hell I'll go as far to say AEW may treat wrestling legends better than any sport treats their legends. With Cornette and Omega, I'm a fan of both. I grew in NC and started watching wrestling in the mid 80s and have always been a Midnight Express and Cornette fan, that will never change. I've been a fan of Omega since 2016 when I saw NJPW on Axis TV. And somehow we have adopted Kenny as our native son ( I was so glad he kept the Nooorrrttthhh Caaarrroolinaaa in is intro the other week ). I like who I like and I don't let others influence my opinions, Not Even Cornette. On Twitter I do feel bad for AEW fans as they do get a raw deal and I think it's the opposite on here, I think WWE fans get a raw deal ( no pun intended ) at times. Basically like what you like, enjoy what you enjoy. Life is too short to let others take that away from you ( and I know that's easier said than done ). I'm riding this Copeland train in AEW and enjoying it. As I did the Cody-Bloodline storyline. Whatever you think of Kahn and HHH they both, in my opinion do have the wrestling business best interests at heart. Like Schizo said, Neither promotions style is better than the other. It's all about your personal preference.

Sometimes overhyped things live up to that hype and sometimes they don't. The only way to find out is to give them a fair chance and make your own mind up.
For what it's worth, add me to the list of people who think Omega 100% lives up to the hype and then some. Taylor Swift, not so much (and I say that as someone who has seen her live, haha)

AEW has his flaws but now the current negative stigma comes from Chris Legentil PR campaign, here is a recent example.

I don't understand why anyone would completely talk down their competition, to the point that you view them as worse than absolute dogshit.
If 'your' company is bigger, you beat shit, not very impressive. If 'they' are beating you, congrats, you got beaten by shit. What does that say about you?

Okay the fact the bots are f***ing following Shadowy Evil Man Chris Legentil makes this just unreal. That's the kind of vanity shit that should get you fired just for being embarrassing. Never have your botnet follow your personal twitter account as the PR guy that's just clown moves.

I enjoy wrestling but do not enjoy interacting with other fans in real life. This is especially true at live shows. Doesn’t matter the company, you always stand a decent chance of having one of the most annoying people you’ve ever heard in your life in your section. I’ve had guys that hate everything, guys that yell “that was three” on every nearfall, guys who yell disgusting things to all the women.

I'm okay with other friends who watch wrestling because we have similar tastes. But when we all went to a WWE PPV viewing party on my college campus back in the day, there was this one nerdy-looking dude who would not shut the f*** up about how much he hated John Cena. I wanted to deck the bastard by the end of it.

Most of the people I know IRL who talk wrestling are marks. And I just go into troll mode when one of them starts bashing AEW or starts simping for WWE. "You know wrestling's fake, right? I don't care if Roman Reigns is whatever they're calling the World Champion these days, he's boring, he can't wrestle, he works three times a year. If he wasn't related to The Rock and if Vince McMahon didn't have a gay crush on him, he would've never made it out of developmental. Mentioning Roman Reigns at all is literally one of the best anti-WWE arguments you could possibly make." (It doesn't hurt that my opinion of Roman Reigns is extremely, extremely low - like the difference between my real opinion of him and my troll opinion of him is down to semantics.) If they're a pure mark, another one that works is "You know Cody Rhodes was Stardust before AEW formed, right? The only reason Cody ever got good in the first place was that he left WWE. He learned how to actually wrestle, and once he was good enough to be a midcarder in a real wrestling promotion he was good enough to be the top guy in WWE." A third good one is "Braun Strowman is so terrible that when he got fired from WWE the first time literally nobody else even wanted him." I was this for awhile as well, but again, just got over it over time. Now?? I wait with fresh crow to serve whenever a Powerhouse Hobbs or Ospreay match list request comes up. I learned they watch, and would champion each and every person who jumped over, but I guess some for of twisted loyalty won’t allow them to just enjoy something.

More than anything, I want to not care, you know?
I want to be able to just watch what I'm able to, and like what appeals to me, and not like what doesn't.
But the tribalism and the moralism (when it comes to all of WWE's misdeeds... and when I say this, I don't mean any judgments towards other fans, just how it may reflect upon myself...) makes it so hard.
There's that feeling that if AEW does something I don't like, or if WWE does something I DO like, it means I'm defending the morally reprehensible company.
Though admittedly, part of that guilt and shade is deserved since a number of the AEW acts I naturally gravitated towards liking ended up problematic in one way or another (Darby and Max Caster especially, though I've since become exhausted with Caster's constant attempts to be an edgelord), and others have vanished from the company through no real moral fault of their own (Ryan Nemeth, Sonny Kiss).
I don't know, I just want there to eventually be an environment what I can feel comfortable with liking both, in the end.

Bro had zero retort when I said if Cornette knows what he's talking about why has every promotion he has ever booked done bad business? Cornette stans are the living embodiment of NPCs. They have a pre-programmed set of phrases to say. And when you challenge them on their views, they have no comeback and can't debate intelligently. The way I’ve “broken” their programming in the past was shockingly easy… Them; *random rant about about the Yoing Bucks (pre-AEW existence) Me; “hmmm. Ok. Well…lemme ask you this…to a degree isn’t the point of processional wrestling to ‘get over’ whether you love or hate the wrestler and ‘make money?’” Then; sure! Me; name 5 people who are more over - again whether you love em or hate em- and making more money and moving more merch than the Bucks.. Them; *starts to answer…* Me; *cuts them off* who don’t have a guaranteed contract with a monolithic corporation who views its worker as cogs in a machine and not actual people… …that’s was always the point that they got flustered and changed the subject or walked away. 🤷🏼♂️

I listen to Cornette from time to time. He likes Kenny now(we’ll see if it lasts) and has good things to say about Starks, Hobbs, and Willow. Anyone that just parrots anyone else’s talking points is lame AF though. Think for yourself mang. Wut??

Having a Sammy Guevara in the arena match would be good. Just him going around the crowd and damaging people while his music plays on a loop.

During a Twitch stream, Kenny basically said that he comes from a hockey locker room mindset and that he thinks that “sometimes fighting is the answer” and that if it were him, he would have just fought it out with Punk. This was JUST carny enough of a “diz biznezz” statement that he’s endeared himself to the Cornette stans and there’s a lot of “huh, maybe Omega isn’t as bad as we thought” going on lately.

And then Kenny immediately starts a feud with his fellow EVP's. I think Kenny is bit fast and lose with kayfabe on that thing. See the Opsreay stuff other day
