When is it appropriate for the old guy to go over?

HBK going over Kennedy suprised me a little bit tonight, especially since HBK seemed to have the momentum going into the PPV, which usually spells a loss.

Also, HBK is the older guy, and giving Kennedy the duke would really help him out. I was kinda bummed.

But when is it ok for the older guy to go over the younger guy?

When the younger guy is particularly promising or talented, and the older guy's credibility will not be diminished.

i believe for the feud it made sense for HBK to win... HBK has been completely destroying Kennedy in this feud. They need to end it now before he loses too much credibility.

When the older guy needs a bounce back win so he looks good for when he does decide to put someone over, and when the young guys he's facing hasn't been performing at a level that indicates they deserve the rub from going over. I'm not a fan of putting the young guy over just for the sake of giving him the rub, if he hasn't shown that he deserves it.

Kennedy's performance hasn't been anything to write home about imo, and I didn't think he had been showing enough promise in recent months where he should have won. For him this match was all about proving himself, and trying to show that he really does have that potential to be a top guy. I thought he got plenty of offense in and was made to look like a credible threat in there.

I felt in both the HHH/Hardy and HBK/Kennedy matches that the right call was made in regards to whether the young guy went over or not. If Kennedy impressed management enough tonight than maybe he can get a return match.

I'm pretty sure that's sarcasm, but I'm half past exhausted, so I could be wrong.

It's fine to have an older guy go over, long as the young guy, who presumably has more longevity, looks strong in defeat, or if he's a chickens*** heel, looks good in a cowardly way, if that makes sense. But having a "vet" go out and "build" a young guy by completely dominating him, then get the win on top of it, isn't the best strategy in my opinion.

I hope he did. I didn't watch the PPV, but cutting the feud with HBK getting over after such dominance in the feud doesn't do Kennedy any favors, even though he hasn't proven himself to be the best blue-chipper out there lately.

Can't give up on him yet.

no no sorry... im tired maybe i didnt get my point across... what i mean is that Kennedy has been losing credibility during this feud... he has been getting completely destroyed by HBK. I'm saying they need to end the feud because i cant see a scenario where Kennedy can rebound from it... they need to end it and save whatever credibility Kennedy has if they want him to be a Main Eventer anytime soon
