Don't think the taping results got reported earlier this week, so here's the TV recap.
I bet Russo's kicking himself for not thinking of that ladder match idea first. (Or has he already done that?)
Matches:
MELODY def. JOHNNY PUNCH
OVW WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP:
ROUCKA (C) def. KATIE LEA
OVW TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP:
JAMES CURTIS (C) def. CODY RHODES
COLT CABANA & SHAWN SPEARS VS. PAUL BURCHILL & STU SANDERS
NO CONTEST
OVW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP:
ATLAS DABONE def. MATT SYDAL (C) via DQ
--------------------
OVW started off once again with Johnny Punch promising to end his now 98 consecutive losing streak. This time he announced he had hand picked his opponent for the night and his victory would be "solid gold!" Punch had picked Melody as his next opponent! Shocked and appalled, Melody kicked Punch where the sun don't shine and pinned him for his 99th consecutive loss!! It was deja vu this week when Roucka won her title match by using the title belt to get a cheap victory again! The stipulation was that if Katie Lea lost, she would have to kiss Roucka's feet, but Roucka decided she was going to make Katie Lea kiss her feet when they were dirty and disgusting!
Cody Rhodes made a surprise return to the Davis Arena when TV Champion James Curtis held an open challenge to any superstar in the back for a shot at his TV title. Cody almost had Curtis beat until Curtis pulled a DDT out of his sleeve for the 1-2-3 and another successful title defense! Next, it was announced that Ox would take on Hammer next week in a Boot Camp match to finally settle their score!
Shawn Spears and Colt Cabana worked better as a team this week after forming a stronger friendship from the day they spent together last week. Their match with Burchill and Sanders went without a tilt until Burchill pulled Spears into a Flying Apple by Cabana! This incident infuriated Spears and no sooner than the two tag champions were friends, the two were fighting again! Al Snow came out to break up the fight and announce next week the two would face each other in a ladder match for the tag titles, with the winner earning the right to claim a new tag partner!
Atlas DaBone got a title shot against Matt Sydal, much to the chagrin of Mike Kruel, who took it upon himself to interupt the match and ruin Atlas' chance at the title again. Soon the two were fighting on the outside while Matt Sydal went to the top rope to hit a moonsault on the two on the outside!!!
