...could take something as good as a Beth/Mickie feud, and book it so badly that the match actually gets BORING chants. The fans knew Mickie wasn't going to win that match, and therefore didn't care, all because WWE have this unexplained Candice hard-on. At least JR tried saving it by saying Mickie gave Beth her hardest match ever, but the sad reality is that you don't hear JR in the arena. Poor poor booking - I don't mind that Beth is still champion, but they could have made it look like Mickie had a good chance of beating her!

I gotta agree. This is potentially the best women's feud that have seen in a while/could see in a while longer. It does deserve a little more time.

But you' ve gotta admit, even by knowing the result of the match in advance ( which you can often easily guess anyway ), only the WWE fans would boo a Beth Phoenix / Mickie James match too.

That crowd was dead for every match not involving Triple H or Mysterio.

why is it the WWEs fault? I didn't see the match but how did the girls look when they fought? Was it face paced and a good match? Or did it look like Mickie and Beth just phoned it in? I'm sure it has a lot to do how lame Beth is in the ring. It's hard to get excited when you are watching someone with no personality! It all has to do on how believable the girls made it in the ring. If they wrestle poorly the crowd will crap on them.

I agree that there was virtually no storyline behind the PPV match other than the fact that Mickie won a #1 contender match. So with no story to back it up, it became simply a women's wrestling match, of which the vast majority of WWE fans do not care about. I personally like women's wrestling, but most WWE fans don't.
And you would think that WWE would be aware of this, since the WM22 match between Mickie and Trish had a huge storyline behind it, and as a result the fans actually cared about it.

You' ve got a point, people are much more interested in a match on which hype was build by a storyline nut come on... this is BETH PHOENIX versus MICKIE JAMES. I mean, there are tons of matches set up with no storyline, even at PPVs, and people are interested, or at least don' t start "booooooring" chants.

At least Meltzer liked it, but they really were put in a bad position, and would have benefited more from being in Finlay and Khali's slot. A bit bizarre that it was technically RAW's main event...

Right now, TNA women's division is light years ahead of WWE, who'd have thought it?

Well, they brought in women who actually know how to wrestle rather than former bikini models who have never actually watched wrestling before. For that reason alone, it seemed like a given. Before the knockout division the only women's wrestling I'd ever seen was WWE's(well, that and GLOW in my youth, but we won't go there), and for that reason I never thought women's wrestling would ever be interesting. TNA proved me wrong.

Interesting to note that a womens' tag match got the highest rated segment on Impact last week.

Right now, TNA women's division is light years ahead of WWE, who'd have thought it? Mickie James is no good as a face, and the one thing she really had going for her was an effective character. She doesn't have that anymore, and she's not one of the Divas who will get over just on her look(Don't get me wrong, Mickie is very attractive, and way out of my league, but I don't think she has that "Playboy" look at this point in her career). So without the look and without the character, what do you have left?

Interesting to note that a womens' tag match got the highest rated segment on Impact last week. Not the first time that's happened either. I don't like a lot of TNA's booking, but I do feel their WD is booked well, and is a real attribute which is different from WWE. With this Beth/Mickie build, or lack thereof it was almost like they didn't want this match to succeed. I really hate how they gave away the champion scoring a clean pinfall on the challenger in a tag match as part of the build up, especially since the Champion was retaining the belt. I mean why watch the PPV match, when you've already seen that the champion can score the clean pin? I know they're trying to build Beth up as a dominant champion, but I didn't like that at all.

That crowd sucked last night. I couldn't believe how dead they were for the Triple H v Hardy match

What was the story behind the match? And the story behind ANY women's division match since Lita-Trish and Mickie-Trish?
The match itself wasn't that bad, but far from a captivating bout.
All in all, the fans aren't given enough reasons to care about the Women's division matches, but it's not entirely their fault.
WWE know women's wrestling booked at its finest can compete, at best, with a decent midcard match, so they obviously take the easiest path: T&A. So when some better workers come around, they're screwed from the get go.
