Punk hasn't been champ for the past two years And the ECW belt is not the main belt in WWE.

Length is by no means a measure of quality. Big Show, Lashley and Punk are all up there in length, but I wouldn't put them anywhere near guys like Sandman and Raven in terms of how good their title reigns have been.

^Agreed, as I like Punk but his title run thus far has been crap.

That's another thing, many people have said time and time again on this board how his run hasn't been great.

I understand them wanting him to be a babyface who overcomes the odds, and takes a beating before he retains his title, but he's really not looking credible with how he's booked. Getting beat down sometimes is ok, but it seems like almost every show ends with him lying on his back and someone else's music playing. He needs to get some ME wins without getting beat down after the match to look more credible as a champion, even if the title he's holding is a low level belt.

Last night when Joey Styles said that MVP had held the US title for 7 Months, my jaw dropped. Time flies. It definitely didn't feel that long.

To be fair I did not watch the original ECW a lot but can one really compare title reign lengths between the original independent ECW and the now let's be honest WWE brand wrestling of ECW? And is this WWE version of ECW really the same wrestling style of the original ECW? I think not. Therefore if I were a dedicated original ECW fan than I wouldn't put much stock into the WWE version of ECW which frankly is no better than a Shotgun Saturday night type show that could be here today and gone tomorrow.

He had a good to great matches almost every week (unfortunately that led to him "retiring"). CM Punk is probably similar to Justin Credible. Someone who is a decent worker, but shouldn't be headlining a promotion (Yes I know people on this board will have a temper tantrum). Kinda ironic his debut match in ECW was against him

Here some things to think about:
1) The ECW right now is at about the same status as a mid card title, i.e. the US Title, and IC Title
2) You can only do so good of a reign if for the longest time, you have only defended the title against a small amount of people on your brand.
3) What should be done is have the ECW title be defended against a more variety of opponents rather that strictly on ECW...since we do have the whole SD!/ECW merger thing
4) Time and Time again people, this ECW is not the same as the old ECW...never has been...never will be
5) Frankly, CM Punk's title reign has been very boring (go back to point 3), and being a big CM Punk mark (since his ROH stuff) it kills me to say this.
thats just my thoughts

Say what you want about the person he beat, but that feud really helped solidify MVP as a player in this company.

It's hard to believe he beat REPLACING CHRIS BENOIT IN THIS SENTENCE WITH BOB HOLLY IS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY, WAS NEVER REALLY THAT FUNNY, AND JUST A SAD REFLECTION ON THIS USER for that belt, too. fixed. Doubly fixed for ultimate truth.

But everyone else said Punk would be misused and buried!
But yeah, I think it's great they have Punk with a long reign, at least I hope they will have him have a long reign anyway.
