I think the E has botched it badly. Jericho could be huge right now, but they have made several key errors in his return ,like dragging out the Save Us vids, debuting him in a crap town, throwing him immediately into a one off title program, and letting him continue to wear that vest. The save us crap went on way too long IMO because everyone already knew what it was. There was no anticipation to build because it wasnt a surprise to anyone, so by the time he re debuted, all i could think was Bout time.

It was a real let down, but the match against Orton was freaking fantastic and had me on the edge of my seat. The crowd was alive for Jericho to which made it even better.
So all in all, at his first PPV comeback he delivered and his feud with JBL will freaking outshine anything the WWE has going right now.

Was the first promo not the night Cena got injured? I can't really remember. I think they wanted to bring him back as a heel to fued with Cena, hence the reason for the flung together Orton debacle and the JBL stuff. I'm pretty sure he would have been fighting Cena at the Rumble.

IThough, how JBL will cope with doing promos aimed at someone who isn't Hispanic may expose his limitations. All he has to do is change Mexico to Canada in all his promos

I think the key thing to remember is that when the SAVE_US.222 promos first started airing, Cena was still around and still WWE champion. And I've heard interviews with Jericho where he talks specifically about wanting John Cena to be the guy that got him "fired" from Raw.
Granted it's all speculation, but I firmly believe that the Jericho vs. Orton feud was just a Plan B for when Cena got hurt. It's a shame we never got to see Jericho return in full heel mode against Cena.

They build up the match for Armageddon: nothing spectacular but solid promotion. The match is good, until...JBL?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Our Saviour is already out of the title picture and he's now feuding with a former superstar, now turned announcer? I think the above statement sums the whole situation up rather nicely.

It sucks now, but I cringe to think what's going to happen to him once Cena comes back. You are not alone friend.

Get prepared for negativity.
You know, as SOON as the whole save.us.222 thing started and everybody on here was creaming themselves over how OMG AWESOME Y2J RETURN!!ZZ!! was going to be, I was thinking to myself - "he'll come in, challenge for the world title his first month and then get shunted right back down to midcard hell for eternity like he was when he was around the FIRST TIME."
And sure enough, WWE didn't let me down.

People expected too much of Chris Jericho. They were treating him like an Austin Rock or Hogan when he's not even a Foley. He's an upper-midcarder, not a true superstar-level talent. Combine that with how bad the WWE's booking is, how dull Randy Orton is, and the fact that Y2J looks like a gay magician and it's really not surprising how badly it's failing.

I too questioned why he got a title shot straight away, but he hasn't been booked to badly IMO - he was on the verge of defeating Orton at Armageddon and has had a couple of decent promo segments. I didn't expect the crowd to pop huge for him anyway, but his character is over enough that people always react to him. I personally look forward to the JBL feud, and believe that they could pull of some good matches - Layfield is a really good worker.

Am I the only one who thinks Jericho's promos (Since his return) have been rather mediocre?

Am I the only one who thinks Jericho's promos (Since his return) have been rather mediocre? Count me in too... To be REALLY honest, Jericho's promos have always been hit-or-miss with me, the misses being many more than the hits, especially once he got stuck in midcard feuds. Orton was far from a good partner though, maybe JBL will help on that department, while being a huge step down in terms of "Prestig" for the feud.

Im just stoked the guy is back in a wrestling ring.
If it were my choice, have JBL go over this feud and have Jericho move to Smackdown and pipe in cheers for him. Jericho/Edge would be killer.

A timeline of my emotions: - Initial rumors of Jericho returning: "Jericho's returning? No way! Awesome!"
- First SAVE_US promo: "Sweeet! Jericho really is returning! Aw man, I might actually watch RAW regularly again!"
- One month later: "Awww man, he isn't back yet? Alright, I bet he'll be here at the next PPV then."
- Another month later: "Oh come on! Still!? We all know it's Jericho, quit jerkin' us around WWE!"
- Yet another month later: "Hooray! He finally debuted! Wow, big surprise, I can't believe it turned out to be Jericho..."
- One last month later: "Wait, so they brought back Jericho, paid him a bunch of money, touted him as someone capable of "saving" WWE, and a month later he's out of the title picture and in an undercard feud with a returning JBL? WTF?"

Personally I love Jericho. I've been a huge mark for him since I started watching wrestling in 2000 but I agree that his return has a lackluster feel to it.
Jericho has solid in ring abilities and is one of the top mic performers that the WWE has to offer (though that might be a bit like saying he is the tallest dwarf, at the moment) but he cannot work miracles. Orton sucks on the mic and so any witty back and forth banter was out the window. To give the devil his dues, Orton also has excellent in ring abilities and so the match between the two was actually very good, but a good match without heat only appeals to those few who are attracted to wrestling for just that; wrestling.
For Y2J to have the impact that the WWE and all of those Jerichoholics out there want he needs to be in a feud with another good mic guy and a good worker. I think that JBL might be that person. Though he clearly has some ring rust (did you see the clumsy beat down that was the APA return) he should be able to shake that off quite quickly and offer an excellent match at the end of a (hopefully) well set up feud.
The problem that most people have is that Jericho is not really WWE main event material. He's too small. And I never felt that JBL was good as a top card wrestler, so this feud, while being entertaining, will not lead to any gold. So my question is, what are the going to do with orton?

He'll beat Hardy a couple of months in a row by cheating or other cheap wins...then fued with Triple H...

You know I totally forgot that they were pushing Hardy at the moment. I guess I just never saw him as top card.
I totally agree though, Orton-Hardy then Trips for Wrestlemania. Its so drearily repetative. I was never an Austin fan but its slumps like this that make you appreciate guys like him. I really hoped that Y2J could reach the upper echelons when he returned, the company is so dry of talent just now, but I guess it was not to be. He's still in his prime though, so there's still time.

The best thing to have done would have been to let Jericho be the guy who beat Orton at the PPV where Ortin became champ. McMahon presents Orton the belt, another "Save_Us.222" pops up on the screen, Jericho comes out, challenges, wins, and runs with the belt for a while.
Kinda ironic that Mr. "Save_Us" is now the one that needs saving....
