I have finally found the guts to come out and say what it seems everyone is avoiding.
Y2J has bombed since his return.
Simple question. I feel very let down by how Y2J has returned.
I mean, from building up a huge amount of talk, right into a feud that was not given enough time to build for the Title at a PPV, right into a bizarre feud for Y2J with a RETIRED, but not returning JBL? I mean, really?
To me Y2J's return so far has fizzled out FAST. I would not be surprised AT ALL if Y2J himself were upset at how it's played out, at least to himself. Might even be unhappy enough to be saying it backstage to management. I would be a lot if Y2J would say 100% he is very happy with how things went.
Screw JBL, how about BUILDING UP a feud first WWE, then switching off to someone new?

It's been OK so far.
Nothing in wrestling is a huge event anymore.
The feud with JBL should at least provide some interesting promo material.
Though, how JBL will cope with doing promos aimed at someone who isn't Hispanic may expose his limitations.

It's been a letdown, plain and simple.
They hyped his return for more than a month, the anticipation was high... then we got a reenact of his original debut, this time with Orton instead of Rock [and it's the first problem... as Randy is much weaker than Rock as promo antagonist], but it's still ok.
They build up the match for Armageddon: nothing spectacular but solid promotion. The match is good, until...JBL?!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Our Saviour is already out of the title picture and he's now feuding with a former superstar, now turned announcer?
If the crowd wasn't all that much into Y2J v Orton, for the WWE title, I can't see how Y2J v JBL for *ahem* what exactly? won't be better...
A letdown definitely and it's not gonna get better

It sucks now, but I cringe to think what's going to happen to him once Cena comes back.

Well let's see...........
First, why exactly was Y2J given a title shot right out of the gate? He's been gone for 2 years! Giving him a title shot for no reason at all made absolutely no sense whatsoever.
They then take a feud that should have taken months to develop (Y2J/Orton) and literally blew it off in 3 weeks. The Hornswoggle/Khali feud by comparison (a) has taken longer, (b) makes more sense, and (c) got a better crowd reaction. Let that sink in for a minute.........A feud involving a midget and a giant who can neither speak english nor wrestle has outperformed a main-event level feud in every way possible.
And now they're relegating Jericho to the SD mid-card to feud with a returning JBL -- a feud which, ironically, is getting a better buildup than Y2J/Orton. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Shouldn't Jericho have started off in a high profile mid-card feud and worked his way back up to a main event title match with Orton (or whoever the champ would be)?
And that's not even counting his crowd reactions, which have been lukewarm at best. Once or twice can be blamed on a dead crowd, but the overall reactions he's been getting shows that the fans in general really don't seem to care. Simply put, Jericho is not as big a star as everyone thought he was.
Between the lukewarm reactions and the literally backwards booking, yeah.......I'd say Jericho's return has flopped.

I'm still wondering what he was supposed to save us from? Gingivitis Great, now I'm picturing JBL and Orton marching around the ring chanting "We put holes in teeth!" over and over again.

I don't know, as much as I like Jericho, it's not exactly like he's the Rock or Austin coming back in their primes, the majority of crowds were never gonna be THAT into him coming back given how entrenched he was in the midcard for the last couple of years before he left in the first place. It didn't really help matters that his championship feud was with Orton, who has all the charisma of a block of wood. I made the post a week or so back, but I still say SaveUs woulda worked better with a heel Jericho vs. Cena.. I just think both guys then coulda got the crowd into it, rather than it feel kinda blah.
I am really intrigued by the JBL feud. That should be pretty cool. The poll options are way too polarized one way or another to properly vote though.

Somewhat. He shouldn't have been thrusted into the title scene so quickly like he was, and now that's over...we get Bradshaw I'm one of the few who's always thought JBL sucked and don't want to see a Jericho V. Bradshaw feud. Jericho should have had a slower build up (maybe winning the Rumble) while still being built back up in the meantime. Instead it was way too rushed.

i always disliked him, but i'm enjoying his return so far
i think the jbl/jericho feud will surprise a lot of people, on the strength of the promos alone

It's been so-so, but honestly they shouldn't have put him in the World Title picture so soon. Kinda reminds me of what they did with Scott Steiner in 2002, have him challenge for the World Title and lose, and he goes back down into midcard.
The Jericho/JBL feud might be good, but I won't bet on it though.

I quite like the story so far. Chris Jericho arrives in a blaze of glory and gets a title shot at the man who claims he has beaten everyone. (He's a former undisputed champion still in his prime, why shouldn't he have a title shot.)
Jercho fails to win the title thanks to JBL, he does win the match though.
Which leads us into Jericho vs JBL, instead of the usual moronic tale of him getting another title shot for no real reason (coughBatistacough)
For me it's been a breath of fresh air, instead of the usual HHH/HBK DX styled slapstick or John Cena's watered down rap/marine stylings.

It is what I expected it to be. Jericho was not that big of star in the long term picture and it as about good as it was gonna be. They probably should of stretched over a longer period (the Santino match could have been on PPV as opposed to Raw)

The IWC does exactly what others, like Vince Mcmahon, say, but then deny it. Everyone knows that groups like the WWE, for example, will have their way of doing things, and their logic behind it will be something along the lines of "well, if we do it the other way, it won't work as well" but other people will try to mask the logic as a mere excuse. WWE wanted to hype up a mystery guy (not hype up Jericho), but thanks to spoilers, (it's called spoiler for a reason) everyone knew it was Jericho. Now, when the WWE guys get pissed of at their employess (like a certain individual making the rounds of bashing) for leaking spoilers, their reasonong is that it will, well, spoil, their plans. But see, the IWC will say, "no, that's not true, it's up to the individual not to spoil the event, even if we want it to be spoiled, see" and that, I'm sorry to say, dosen't make any sense. I saw this comong for a while. Jericho's return didn't happen last month, his return happenned in september, and now that Jericho has been back for 3 months now with only 3 matches, it seems like he's loosing steam, but the thing is, is that anyone who's spoiled by his return did i for themselves. so no, Jericho's return didn't "bomb" so to speak, it just dosen't work for the people who don't want it to work. phase #1 was: Hey everybody, Chris Jericho is coming back to WWE, yaaaay!! (that is the reaction he should have gotten the night he debuted, the night people would have "found out") Phase #2 was: Hey, I think that forst secret promo might have been Jerich, what do you think? or will he debut seperstely? phase #3: Hmmmmm... , these promos have been coming up now for like a month, "sigh", when is Jericho finally going to show up? phase #4: (Jericho returns) "Finally, jeese, it took them long enough" And the fans then give him their "finally he showed up" golf clap.

"The IWC: You give them what they want, and they'll still find a way to complain about it." I don't recall ever saying I wanted Jericho back, and to those that did, it doesn't mean they can't say if they find it boring or not, just because he's there. If some find his run to be a bit lackluster, so be it.

First let's get a couple of things straight that I noticed are off in this thread.
1. JBL seems returning to regular in-ring action.
2. Jericho is NOT going to the SmackDown Midcard. JBL's going to RAW.
Personally, I like the idea of the JBL/Jericho feud. Both wrestlers are veterans and former world champions. I think putting Jericho in the WWE title picture immediately was pretty dumb. But now they can build off this feud and if Jericho goes over, THEN he can start chasing the title again. Now it's Jeff Hardy's time to shine as the top face of RAW.
So yeah, I have no major problems with the way Jericho's come back. Every promo I've seen him do has been just as good as ever. I only wish he'd wrestle more.
