Just an odd thought but when a guy debuts in TNA (or where ever) who had once been a part of another show, when does the "it's another reject from WWE" wear off and "He's an established TNA guy" start?
6 months? A year? Never?

I'm not really sure. I don't think of Christian as a WWE guy anymore. Not like a choice I made, it just registers differently now.

If you've wrestled in WWE you are not allowed to make a living anywhere else in wrestling ever again or else you'll be a WWE reject. Thats how it seems to me anyway judging by what people say when they go elsewhere.

To me it's once you make a name for yourself wherever you decide to go. Dudleys aren't WWE neither is Christian, or Tomko for that matter.

Christian has became his own charcter in the TNA landscape.
Also, when someone debuts, reacting as such: "Andrew Martin! The man formally known as Test!" makes people think of him as a WWE cast off.
They did the same thing with Tomko. "We know who this is! He's here to solve Christian's problems!"
Ugh.

Anyone that ever set foot in a WWE ring, even for a dark match/tryout. Meaning... Samoa Joe, Bryan Danielson, Low Ki/Senshi, Joey Ryan.. But in all seriousness, New Age Outlaws will never stop being WWE guys. They are about the only ones that scream that to me.

So what do say for Samoa Joe, Jay Lethal and Alex Shelley. All made a name for themselves in ROH (and other various indies), but have been in TNA for a while now.
Or CM Punk, he made a name for himself in ROH, IWA-MS (and many midwest indies) before that
And what do you say of Low Ki? Is he a TNA guy? Japan? ROH?

But there's a damn good chance they did see Rhino and Christian and Tomko and the Duds. Jed Shaffer ~Who was the last indy person TNA hired? Lethal?

When they become better known and have more success with the new company than they did in the WWE. For some people, that's almost immediate. For others, it may not be the case for a long time.
The fact is, if a guy is being pushed because of success with another company, it's hard to associate them with their new company. Some performers, like Christian, really came into their own when they left and have thus been able to break that stigma, whereas guys like Rhyno or Raven, for example, never really had the big success in WWE, so I don't consider them real WWE guys, even if it was my first exposure to them. I see Kurt Angle as a WWE guy because that's why he was pushed and he's not really done anything to really differentiate himself as of yet. He very well could, but hasn't yet.

I think its when you break from the mold that the WWE cast you in. Christian did this quite well with his title runs, Tomko is finally getting out from that with TNA letting his show some personality. On the flip side, there are guys like Rhino and VKM who are still doing the same stuff they did in WWE (and to a lesser extent ECW).

Depends on the guy. If he hopes into a ROH ring its going to take a couple matches unless your name is James Gibson.

I think if they do enough stuff to differentiate themselves or undergo a big personality change, you can stop being a WWE guy. James Gibson going from redneck to heroic, babyface redneck in ROH was a successful change since he was so good at what he does. Christian breaking out his full personality differentiated himself. But teams like 3D and VKM are still WWE guys to me. Still the same old crap

The thing is, it's not like TNA just hired a handful of former WWE performers and integrated them into their promotion. They seem to literally fall all over themselves trying to "snatch up" anyone the E lets go, regardless of how good an investment they are. It's become a running joke now. Everytime news gets out that WWE released someone, there's inevitably a post along the lines of "COUNTDOWN TILL [insert former WWE star's name here] DEBUTS IN TNA!!!" And, in cases like Test, Dustin Rhodes, VKM, Team 3-D, Scott Steiner, and others, it's pretty appropriate. Rather than investing time in some of the guys already on their crowded roster, they'd rather shill out a few thousand dollars in hopes that guys more recognizeable on mainstream media will help their show. And I suppose it has. After signing guys like Kurt Angle, they've managed to increase ratings by about 0.2 or 0.3. Whoop. Dee. S***. I say never. Because they never do anything to differentiate themselves or their newly-aquired wrestlers from their competition. They have a six-sided ring, but what happens inside and outside of it is the same, tired old crap. P.S. Incidentally, I used think TNA had a far better roster than the WWE despite their inability to make use of it. But aquisitions like Test are making me rethink that.

Scott Steiner has been freaking awesome since coming to TNA. He even does what famous veterans should do, jobbing clean to elevate others like he did with Joe. I wish they were using Sting this way, but he hasn't lost clean to anyone like AJ or Christopher Daniels. Time for TNA to get on that before he retires P.S. Incidentally, I used think TNA had a far better roster than the WWE despite their inability to make use of it. But aquisitions like Test are making me rethink that. I still haven't seen this guy wrestle, but I don't see how his entering the company diminishes guys like Triple X, The Motor City Machineguns, AJ, Joe and all the rest.

Yeah Steiner is a WCW guy if anything.
