i remember a SNME when bossman was hitting perfect to an almost disturbing degree in the eyes of a young mark. so, even if its only a clowdy memory, i'll say bossman.

Holy nuts, I can't believe I forgot Savage and the Undertaker! But since he won the Brawl 4 All, I'm giving an honorable mention to Bart Gunn.

Brian Blair also threw pretty good punches. He should however be a little more humble.

For my money it's Dr. Death Steve Williams. His punches not only looked stiff, but they were LOUD.

John Cena, because that's about 50% of his moveset and he always seems to win no matter what the odds are.

I'm going with Lawler. He threw great worked punches.

To add to this topic, I'd like to nominate Chris Jericho and RVD as the worst punchers in wrestling.

Terry funk was the first guy I had in mind when reading the title of this thread.

When I saw this thread I immediately thought of Stan Hansen and Terry Funk

I also Have to go with The Rock. IMO, Scott Hall (from 1992-and on) threw the coolest looking worked punches ever. The Rock clearly ripped off Hall's punches (and stomps, and most of his working style...honestly). I don't mean that in a bad way. If more people emulated the great parts of Scott Hall, this would be a happier board overall. Terry Gordy threw a terrific punch, but his big right hands were just emulating Terry Funk (and I'm saying this as a HUGE Gordy mark). And in fact, I'd probably put Jerry Lawler on the top of my list as the best punch in the business. Lawler really knew how to throw a worked punch, and in his prime, it comprised 90% of his offense and NEVER got boring. Hogan's pretty good, too, but Lawler's the best in my book. Throwing a good looking worked punch seems like a lost art. I've always thought Angle and Bret's punches are terrible because they look like they're slapping the guy across the face with a closed fist. Nobody fist fights like that except for Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, and any wrestling trainee that thinks that looks cool.

To me, Bret's punches looked the best. You could buy he was really hitting the guy.
Macho Man's punches would have looked good/realistic except he would stomp too hard and make too much noise, basically drawing your attention to the fact that he was stomping with every jab. It's funny to see Jay Lethal doing that now. He's even incorporating Macho's flaws (in my opinion) to remind us of him.
Someone mentioned Shawn, I thought I've heard of wrestlers say there was zero impact whenever he hit you. Of course one of those wrestlers I recall saying that was Bret, so consider the source. Regardless I haven't seen the guy wrestle since he was one of the Rockers, so I don't even remember what they looked like. I remember him being not so physically imposing though, so he would need a good punch to convince crowds he could inflict damage or larger men.

To me, Bret's punches looked the best. You could buy he was really hitting the guy. Bret did look like he connected, totally, but nobody on earth would throw real punches like Bret would (except Kurt Angle). And I guess they wouldn't throw punches like Hall either in a real fight, but dammit, I thought they looked pretty cool. And that's why we all win in threads like this ;D PS: Raven also threw a pretty strong right hand in his salad days...

Lawler, Funk, Hall, Bret Hart, and Race rank highly.
Foley's forearm shots usually looked fantastic.
For a rookie, Cody's combo punches look pretty good.

Dusty and Dustin also threw some great punches.
Oh and I really love Lawler's punches even today, I agree with Bret's and Kurt's punches not really having that "real" effect to them that Lawler's does.

I always thought Bret Hart's punches looked more realistic than most.

He threw his whole body into it and jumped stomped.
The jump stomp throws me off a bit.
I liked Stone Cold's hand slaps too
