It's been rumored for months and now its as close to official as ever. TNA Impact will be expanding to two hours within the next month. The first two hour episode could take place as soon as the October 5th show.
TNA iMPACT! will remain on Thursday nights and will continue to be taped in Orlando. At this point, it would be too expensive to take the show on the road and go live each week.
SpikeTV is said to be pleased with TNA's current ratings and are not expecting an increase when the show gets a second hour. It would be considered an accomplishment for TNA to be able to keep their entire audience for the extra hour.

Say what you will about TNA, but they've gone from 1 hour starting at 11PM to 2 hours starting at 9PM. Thats something no Promotion in America has been able to do it quite a long time.

I'll probably give them another shot if they go two hours but, my hopes aren't up. SpikeTV is said to be pleased with TNA's current ratings and are not expecting an increase when the show gets a second hour. It would be considered an accomplishment for TNA to be able to keep their entire audience for the extra hour. Maybe I am reading this wrong but, the last sentence makes it seem to expect a ratings drop. Wouldn't you expect a bit of an increase with more time to show your stuff?

Maybe I am reading this wrong but, the last sentence makes it seem to expect a ratings drop. Wouldn't you expect a bit of an increase with more time to show your stuff? Not necessarily. The risk you run when your programming is longer is that you'll be competing with more material on other stations. So while you may not have a ton of competition at, say, 9pm, something that's aimed at your target demographic may come on at 10pm and drain your viewership. Still, if TNA fans are into it enough and they keep consistent ratings, then good on them. I won't judge the results immediately. It'll likely take TNA a few weeks before it has the "formula" down. By the end of the year, I think we'll all have a good feel for how the new version of Impact will feel.

At the end of Monday's House show in Syracuse, Jeremy Borash claimed there would be an announcement very soon.
It was kind of like De Ja Vu since at the last TNA house show I went to JB announced that soon impact would be moving to prime time, which of course it did.

TNA's rumored 2nd hour reminds me of the dead rajah.com joke, which seemed to go on forever. Maybe the 2nd hour is what TNA needs to satisfy all talent and fans. Anyway, how would you book the new TNA?
My opinion: Opening battle Nash skit 2nd match (preferably X-Division) Sell the PPV 3rd match More interviews Main event
I admit four matches may be too little, but TNA should really use this extra time to give their performers more to do. Although, the only downside of the 2nd hour means that we could have more skits.

Hopefully it's 9-11 and not 8-10.

They need to show some crazy ass matches on that first show. Let the X Division go out and do what they do best.

Hopefully it's 9-11 and not 8-10. Eastern Time? Because for me, it could expand in either direction without me having to rearrange my TV scheduale.

If this announcement had happened before they did all those "wait till we get two hours" things, I'd have cared. At this point they are going to have to be a complete alternative to the WWE or it's going to be hard to get my interest back.

Seriously: If this let's TNA produce a better show I'm all for it. At least they don't need to pack six weeks of storylines into one show but I honestly hope they don't try to pack 12 weeks worth of angles into one show.

I've always said that TNA is 2 hours worth of television thrown into 1 hour, and I do believe it will help.
But then again, I guess what I'm thinking is they'll put the amount of backstage time they have now in that 2 hours, and then have more wrestling. But, I guess on the other hand, some people may believe it will double.

I'll believe it when I see it. "We're getting 2 hours soon!" has been rumored and rumored ever since Spike signed them

Well, if this isn't just a rumor, it should be neat. My main problem with watching TNA is that I work 2pm-10pm, and if I have the day off, I'd really rather watch My Name Is Earl/The Office/Scrubs in nbc. Question: Is there still that replay of Impact on Saturday nights?

Now TNA has no excuse if they still have crappy shows.
Don't let me down, TNA.
