It was a pretty fun show, although the bad acoustics in the building were a problem all night. Not a bad turnout either, although there were plenty of stadium seats left. The venue itself was the same one used for horse shows, so you can make your own jokes there. It was also infested by bats, which would fly over our heads between matches.
Anyway, onto the show:
Eric Young d. Robert Roode : Fun little comedy match. The crowd was all over Tracy.
"Black Machismo" Jay Lethal b. Kaz and Sonjay Dutt: Lethal got a huge reaction and there was a nice reaction for Sonjay as well. Kaz got mostly crickets.
Miss Jackie b. Tracy Brooks: The people around me seemed disappointed that Gail Kim wasn't there. Miss Jackie was the face in this one, or at least she was the one that got cheered. In one spot, Tracy went crashing through the barricade and onto the dirt floor that separated the first row of seats. They also did a comedy spot where referee Earl Hebner got tangled up in the girls' cat fight. Then he did a little Ric Flair strut to celebrate.
LAX b. XXX: LAX was over huge here. Not a bad match, but like most of the others tonight, it seemed a bit too short.
Samoa Joe b. AJ Styles : AJ got a nice reaction, but everyone was on their feet for Joe. It was a good match, but only went about five minutes long. Afterwords, Joe went to sign autographs at the souvenir stand, and was completely mobbed.
Abyss b. Tomko in a no DQ match: Abyss wins with a chair shot to the head. Tomko took a long time to get up afterwords and needed the help of the refs. He got a nice ovation on his way out.
Chris Harris b. James Storm Storm did an excellent job heeling the crowd. Finish cam as Miss Jackie tried to throw powder in Harris' eyes, and ends up getting it into her own.
Angle b. Christian Christian got a big pop, but tried to turn the crowd by trashing the Orangemen. Angle got the biggest reaction of the night. Christian tapped to the ankle lock to end the bout.
JB mentioned that they'd be coming back to New York "real soon" and that we should "stay tuned" for an announcement of a 2nd hour of impact.
I also saw Eric Young leaving the venue and getting mobbed by autograph seekers. He seemed very polite about it, though.
