Watched the TNA replay of Impact. Some thoughts.
-Why is it that people are under the impression Lethal lost cleanly? XXX jumped on the apron to distract him, directly leading to the events of his loss. Also, there were a ton of near finishes, and Lethal even kicked out of the BME. How is that being buried? People here overreacted on a grandscale.
-The Abyss/Angle Submissionmatch.... good match, but the psychology made NO sense. There were rope breaks. WHY? If you can only win by tapout, what's your motivation to let go? No DQ.
Speaking of that, there was a ref bump and Angle hit a low blow. Huh? Why not just freaking do it? You going to get DQ'd in a No DQ match?
Angle attempted to escape, and Abyss stops him. Why? He wouldn't have to tap out if things went bad. He had already beaten him and bloodied him. Does he hate his job or something? OMG Abyss to ROH!1
Why were they in the cage to begin with? I missed the first half, and they didn't justify it in any way. This company gets a lot of flack, and after this, most of it seems to be at least partially deserved.

They said that it was a cage match to keep Karen and her interference out of the match.
I would have thought it was no dq, but it apparently wasnt. Oh well.

Abyss stopped him because he wanted to hurt Kurt. Simple as that.
Plus, was the title on the line? Wouldn't that make a huge difference?

The title wasn't on the line. Abyss' job was.
And I credit the ref bump to just the referee getting in the way and not anyone knocking him out on purpose.

If Abyss got DQd, though, it'd be to his advantage. They were locked in together, and no one would be able to stop a beat down, and he'd stay in TNA. Abyss's character is a moron.

I don't watch TNA, but a kayfabe explanation could be that he didn't want to do that in front of a ref, because then they'd be wise to be looking for it in future matches of his.

I guess, but Angle's character doesn't generally low blow much, so he doesn't have to worry about it, really.

the way i saw it, kurt had nothing to gain from the match so him trying to escape made sense. plus abyss wanted another chance to beat kurt after his loss at the pay per view, hence pulling him back in the ring when he tried to leave.
and it really was more of a submission only cage match than an i quit match but i didn't mind too much.

Even if you want him in TNA, and not green pastuers, you have to admit it'd be funny.

Abyss risking his entire career in a match he's seen as the underdog in, not generally using submission moves, to get his hands on Angle. It makes sense, storyline wise, but faces in wrestling can be serious morons. It makes me think of all the times Sting trusted Flair, knowing he was just going to get screwed over again and again.

Angle doesn't need the rub, Abyss does. Abyss is quickly becoming the biggest face in TNA. Of course, TNA will piss all over that like they've done every other time by having the Coalition whip his ass.

I just didn't get why TNA Management was being so hard on Abyss.
On Sunday, the guy lost one of the biggest matches of his career. Then immediately afterwards, his old mentor and closest companion told him he was going to make his live a living hell, right before a monster with a large knife dragged him underneath the ring and did god knows what to him.
Could you imagine having all of that happen to you, only to come back into work after a three-day break and have your boss say you have to do something practically impossible (beat an Olympic gold medalist at his specialty)...or you're fired? TNA really should've cut Abyss some slack last week.
