Was at an IPW:UK show last night, and there was a qualifying match for a UK trophy called the Inter-Federation Cup - Darren Burridge (1PW) vs. James Tighe (IPW:UK). The atmosphere was very heated - 1PW is kind of a hated company for a lot of UK fans, and their fans get a lot of mockery thrown their way - personally, I have no trouble with the fans, although the company is a massive example of mismanagement. However, the stupidest spot EVER was part of the match - a fan jumped in the ring and distracted/manhandled the ref, and a little kid, around 10 years old, did a swanton off the apron onto Tighe. Couldn't see really, but I guess he screwed it up, as he had to go and sit crying with a paramedic. I hope that the kid wasn't hurt in any lasting way, but I'm glad he got hurt - I don't want to see a 30 year old trainee who has never worked a match in his life in the ring during a semi-main event that's being pushed as ultra important, let alone a little kid that's too young for real training. Funniest thing is that there was no need - match was very good, and the crowd heat and interaction was awesome. I hope 1PW bring in Bob Holly to train guys at some point

So the payoff for this would be that some random brat came in and hit a high flying move to win the match for someone else? And you said this was apart of the match and this was a spot for it? I read that right I hope.
How bad is the kid hurt?

That's another thing... it didn't have a real bearing on the match. I don't know if that's because he missed, or if it was planned, but it had no real effect, and I believe that it was just to pop the 1PW fans.
Dunno, he was back watching the show at the end, so I figure he was more shaken up than anything.

Sounds incredibly pointless.
How about the rest of the show?

They'd been better off having that Invisable wrestler hit the Swanton.

The rest of the show was awesome, awesome fun... well booked, great crowd, very good wrestling. Was a weekender, so there were shows Saturday and Sunday night, and Sunday afternoon. Felt a bit fragile for Sunday, as Saturday was a drinkfest.
Also, on Saturday, Sam Slam fought Jon Ryan in a TLC match for the All-England Title - they're both stiff, stiff competitors, and the match was ended on the fly, I think, with a chokeout on the ladder... mainly because a ladder spot went wrong, and instead of flying over the top and through a table, Sam went wrist-first into the top of the ringpost and the blade in his wrist wrappings went into his wrist. Was HORRIBLE to see, although he toughed it out and was back the next night to wrap a chair around Ryan's head.

Well that's good ya had a good time there Spike ol' boy.
Honestly I've never been to ANY wrestling show. The indies in my area are something I've just never bothered with, and WWE shows that come through town I've just never decided to shell out cash for the tickets for a huge arena I won't be able to see the action well in.

You really should check out your local indies. Even the baddest of bad indy shows are usually fun to attend, for one reason or another.

Ya I've been told by a bunch of people to go start going and supporting, and I knew a few guys (and one girl) involved in one in particular. I had plans with her to start going with her to attend some shows but it all fell through and I just never really bothered to think about it again. Northern Cali has a bunch of these little indies all over.
Perhaps once I get my stuff together cash wise and travel wise I'll start doing so.

You should totally support your local indy... I'm an IPW:UK regular, and go to plenty of other small shows aroung the general London area. Probably 3-4 shows in an average month, frequently more though. Made a lot of good friends doing it too.

Also, seemingly the spot with the kid was essentially unbooked, and was decided on between the two guys in the ring and a couple of fans, with no knowledge of the booker. Which is mindless, and should result on neither worker being on an IPW:UK show again - I'd like to think the same with 1PW, but their standards are different, I believe, and their representative is also their champ and lead face.
