So, I went ahead and bought this DVD (since the PX here on post sells them for 6 bucks) Normally I wouldn't have gotten it, since I'm not much of a Abyss fan. I don't think he's as much a "rip-off" of Kane or Mankind as some WWE smarks like to think, but he just didn't interest me all that much. But I love TNA matches, and it had the 6 Sides of Steel match with AJ on it, which was outstanding...
...how sad is it though, that it's YOUR "Best of" DVD and you get beat in every single match except for one? I know that the matches on the DVD are all pretty entertaining, but the poor guy never seems to win...His music is pretty awesome though, imagine how good it would be if it was professionally done...
They had the majority of the Sting/Abyss history story arc on there also, and the time Abyss got beat down my The Christian Coalition was brutal...

Which time? I like him, I really do, but to believe he's not at least somewhat inspired by Mankind and Kane would be naive. He's made the gimmick work, though.

The time they used the barbedwire bat and cut those big long lines into his arm...that time, And he may be similar to Kane/Mankind, but he's playing a monster wrestler in a mask (which has been around LONG before Kane or Mankind) He does play it well though...

that beatdown was awesome, he actually turned face right before that by finally attacking mitchell, thats one of my favorite show ending sequences in a while.

To me, Abyss is definitely like rolling Kane and Mankind, along with some Undertaker, into one.
Why have a monster heel and a hardcore badass when you can have them in one?
I definitely respect Abyss for the bumps he takes though.
He really loses all but one match on his own DVD for real?

I don't think it's just WWE smarks who think that only. I showed a video of Abyss a few weeks ago to a friend of mine who watches WWE on occasion and called him a ripoff of Mankind also.

I was watching an episode of TNA that I recorded at home one week and my mother walked into the room during an Abyss match and asked, "Is that Kane?" When I said no, she responded, "Are you sure?"
I reassured her that I was sure and that was that.
So...yes, people who don't know much about or don't watch much wrestling could easily identify Abyss as a Kane style character.

So who has a worse win-loss record, Abyss or Rhino?

Abyss and Kane's body types aren't even THAT similar to me...but hey, the poor guys gonna hear it til he changes gimmicks...who cares though if people who barely watch it think he's a ripoff...
And yeah, his win against Sting for the World Title is the only win on his entire DVD...
Edit: And btw, Rhino wins two of the matches (Against Abyss and The Monsters Ball 1) So he has more...barely, ;D
