I will admit to being a lifelong WWFE fan from the tale end of the "superstars" era, to the "what the f*** is a plumber doing in the wrestling ring?" era. Of course I was there for the Monday Night Wars (praise allah for different timeslots for Raw and Nitro here) and am still watching in this: the "We're so complacent that we cant even be bothered to name this era" era. Saying ALL that, my two fave wrestlers right now are AJ Styles and KENTA, neither of whom wrestle in the WWE. I guess what I'm trying to (not quite soberly) say is "Now the world don't move to the move of the beat of just one drum..."
PS. For all you smartasses out there, yes I am aware that I made a joke about CHIKARA in a different, but from what I've gathered regarding gimmicks etc. and although I haven't seen any CHIKARA footage, it just honestly doesn't appeal to me

I used to be big on WWE and RoH but recently the Vince's product has suffered. WWE and TNA are just unwatchable for me at this point and the only Indy I have time to pay attention to is RoH which puts out a fantastic product.

More than likely, it's probably the Internet's fault.

It's the same obnoxious tendencies, like Limey said, that start things like video game "console wars". There's never any problem with having a favorite something. ROH is my favorite promotion. The Wii is my favorite system. The Mets, Devils, and Giants are my favorite sports teams. And there's nothing wrong with sticking up for any of those things if you perceive somebody to be blindly attacking them, or simply engaging in a well-meaning, mature debate about them...although, fine, I DO get childish sometimes about the sports teams. Still, though, we've gotten so used to, in recent years, having to brand ourselves in all aspects of life (video game system, wrestling company, soft drink of choice, fast food of choice, friggin' television system of choice, Mac vs. PC, yadda yadda yadda) that we feel we have to attack anything we don't associate with. It's an entirely unhealthy way of living. Now, do I bash the WWE? Sure, on things where I disagree with them or feel they're in the wrong (i.e. the lack of a union for wrestlers, or at least better protective measures). But I try to at least do some homework before speaking, and say "They're wrong/bad/whatever on THIS matter..." rather than making some blanket statement about "the WHOLE company is <insert insult here>". I don't like how rushed TNA shows feel...doesn't mean I call TNA some God-awful promotion (I actually kind of enjoy it). I don't agree with the notion that we should enjoy all kinds of wrestling, as people simply have differing tastes and opinions, but I do agree that the whole "brand-naming" of our individual identities as human beings should really change, and soon.

It seems on these forums that there's a large divide over which promotion a fan can watch. If you like WWE, you hate ROH, TNa and Chikara. If you like TNA, you loathe WWE and ROH. If you like ROH and Chikara, anyone who watches WWE or TNA is a moron. My question is....HUH? In the 80's, I watched WWF and NWA. In the 90's, I watched WWF, WCW and ECW. Vastly different products, but all with something worth watching. Where did this blind "This is my promotion and your taste sucks if you don't like it too" mentality come from exactly? I'm not trying to start some huge argument, I'm genuinely curious. Can't we agree to disagree? Can't we all just...get along? I like a little of everything. I just tend to go for ROH and WWE's philosophy on it a little more, I guess.

I watch a bit of each of the three main companies. I complain about what I dislike and praise what I like. Just turns out there's more to hate than to like currently. At least to me.

i don't think the whole "choose a side" thing is THAT big a problem, but it seems like it is because of all the "youtube shoots" and things. if you're gonna make one, chances are you are angry about something. it's always "wwe sucks, tna rules", or vise versa. no one does a shoot saying "i just like wrestling", because no one would watch to see someone with indifferent opinions. personally, i want tna, wwe, roh, chikara, shimmer, czw, cmll, emll, aaa, njpw, hustle, ajpw and anything else to all succeed, so that the entire business will be better. for some reason, people only seem to want one major company to succeed and the rest to go to hell, but that would suck. i'd rather it be pretty crappy and have plenty of alternatives than have one company that you need to succeed or else wrestling is screwed.
personally, i watch whatever i want. a few months back i stopped watchig both raw and impact, because they were both pretty crap att he time. then they both started getting better (i still watched the ppvs, and listened to how the general mass of this forum was feeling about the product to judge when it was starting to pick up again), so i watched again. i know it's a cliche, but if you don't like it, don't watch. don't go around telling other people not to watch as well, just because you don't like it. for some reason, people can't seem to figure out this wierd concept that someone might have a slightly different taste to them.
so, to sum up, i'm hungry.
