Some probably didn't like the nWo/WCW, but the WWF at the time was abysmal. A 200 pound male stripper in chaps and glitter parading around as world champion, an IC champion who would make out with other men on TV, etc. If it wasn't for the nWo, I honestly can't fathom where wrestling would have gone at that time. Probably further into the gutter.

The nWo remains the greatest angle/stable/heels ever. Granted, that's just my opinion, but I'm pretty sure it's true. I agree 100%, my evil doppelganger. Funny story: last Saturday I was going to the JAPW 10th anniversarry show. I'm wearing a Fallen Angel shirt, my buddy's wearing Black Machismo and my brother puts on an nWo wolfpac shirt. We go, "Dude, that was 12 years ago, what wrestler that we're seeing tonight is going to care about that?" Jay Lethal comes out, looks right at him and makes the Wolfpac sign, "nWo for life!" And we're like, "Right! The guy who thinks he's Macho Man!"

The nWo was great because it made every episode of Nitro feel like a battle in a war. There was always an element of unpredictability in the air, and little touches like their promo videos looking shoddy, as if they hacked the WCW signal only sold it further.
I don't think McMahon could ever book something like this, because it required a certain level of "grit." His production values have always been so high that it's almost sterile. The chaotic feel, from these intentionally shoddy-looking videos to fans bombarding the ring with debris every night, was something unique to WCW.

I still laugh at that part when Hogan's laughing maniacally and going, "Wait...I almost forgot something REALLY important! I'm supposed to wrestle the Giant! I FORGOT!!! It slipped my mind!" Hogan was so freaking awesome in that angle. Good stuff. That's my favorite. It was like he was stoned out of his mind!
