I don't really have brand loyalty either, there are times where I would prefer watching WWE over TNA, and vice-versa, but I don't see why people make it seem like you must choose sides. It's ok to enjoy more than one wrestling promotion.

I still don't get why people have such disdain for "sports-entertainment" that's the type of entertainment that is pro-wrestling or the harlem globetrotters.
A fixed sport, with athletes doing amazing moves.

A fixed sport, with athletes doing amazing moves. The two terms really have the same meaning. Indy wrestlers are "sports entertainers". That's not a knock against them, that's just a fact. A wrestler is a sports entertainer. It's not a mentality or an approach. It's a different word to say the same thing. WWE chooses to market to people who normally would turn their nose up at wrestling, so they embrace the term.

Originally Vince created the term so he could showcase WWE without regulations from athletic commissions.

I still don't get why people have such disdain for "sports-entertainment" that's the type of entertainment that is pro-wrestling or the harlem globetrotters. I deliniate between the two as such: Sportz Entertainment: The presentation of sketches and promos as the dominant method of pushing forward angles, and simplified in-ring action. Pro-wrestling: Scripted wrestling, where the focus is put on the in-ring action, and promos/sketches are secondary, and sometimes not included at all. For me, the former is tired and played out. I just wanna see a good MATCH, and not have to wade through 45 minutes of BS to get to it. Why people who like the WWE's product are so offended by people who don't is something I don't get. We have different tastes. If somebody's getting steamed over the way my tastes run, they got bigger issues then the terminology being used. Jed Shaffer ~When a company puts on product I enjoy, I watch it. Period. It's not brand loyalty; it's style loyalty.

See it's the samething Sports-entertainment refers to that itself it's not true sports, because it isn't. I don't get why people don't think it isn't one in the same. it is. I don't call WWE sports-entertainment, I call it pro wrestling. Pro Wrestling itself is sports-entertainment. To dilude yourself into thinking they aren't the same is rediculous. that's what I'm saying. WWE presents pro wrestling, in a different manner than HUSTLe, or PWG, or ROh, or TNA, or AAA or Dragon Gate. all those different promotions are different presentations of pro wrestling. Pro wrestling is sporst-entainment. that's all I'm saying it's not an opinion, it's truth. I know I know wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_entertainmentSports entertainment is a type of of pop culture entertainment that employs the framing device of a sporting event with an overt, even campy emphasis on dramatic storylines, humor, spectacle or titillation. While some sports entertainment events have a predetermined winner, in most the winner is determined through an actual contest which involves real athletic skills and teamwork.

Jed Shaffer ~When a company puts on product I enjoy, I watch it. Period. It's not brand loyalty; it's style loyalty. I enjoy a equal amount of sports entertaiment and pro-wrestling. The thing is wrestling is kinda storyline-driven by default. If there is no backstory to a feud or if the wrestlers haven't gotten ample time to get across their characters and views, there is really no reason for me to get excited about an eventual match. Then it's just two random guys in tights smelling each others armpits. Without an emotional investment in the wrestlers the match has no reason to take place, and thus I as a fan could not care less (even if the in-ring action happens to be good..) It's kinda a two-edge sword, you need angles and storylines to make the wrestlingmatch interesting and you need the match as a pay-off in order to make you care about the angles and storylines. As I stated I prefer a good mixture of sports entertaiment and pro-wrestling maybe leaning towards the latter since angles can be forwarded by in-ring storytelling. Clearly WWE has too much non-wrestling crap and TNA is not far behind. ROH on the other hand has descent and logic storylines that are easy to follow. They just need to work on imploring more consistent selling on some of their workers and cut down on the stables a bit, which are kinda hard to differentiate at times.

I prefer in-ring action. But it's by kind of a narrow margin, as half of the entertainment I derive from wrestling has a lot to do with some of the more idiotic aspects. The beauty of a great match, for me, at least, is when you get the impression that these two guys hate each other. If you remove one aspect for the other, you wind up with two robots going through their motions. Let me put it like this: If the character's main priority is to put on a good match rather than win, they have failed, thus the need for sports entertainment. If I don't get the impression that said character is a threat to anyone, then once again they have failed, thus the need for in-ring action. In the end, it's impossible for either aspect to play itself out.

I am loyal to WWE, but only because I dislike TNA so much, dispite my attempts to like them. Notwithstanding that though, I love ROH, as well as PWG, CZW, old ECW, AWA, WCCW, PNW... I'll watch just about all of it... I even watched WSX when there was nothing else on, and I always thought it looked like the entire promotion was on speed.
