It seems like you never heard about territories in Washington, California, the Dakotas, Nevada, etc., or any stars coming from there.
Were there NWA territories out in the Western states, or was there a different organization? Was there any wrestling at all?!

It feels like I should be more knowledgable about this subject... Off the top of my head, the largest northwest NWA territory was based in Portland, OR. Roddy Piper really found himself as a performer in that territory and established a tremendous sense of loyalty to the promoter, so much so that when he came to work in the WWF, he flat out refused to work in Oregon against the NWA promotion. I know quite a few guys worked in the Portland territory, but the only names popping up in my mind are Raven and Crush. EDIT: Don Owens was the name of the promoter. I even managed to find a list on Wikipedia of all the former Champions of that particular territory. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NWA_Pacific_Northwest_Heavyweight_ChampionshipPretty extensive list, I was surprised to see the sheer number of guys I recognized that had passed through at one time or another.

During the 1960's, Roy Shire's San Francisco Wrestling was one of the top drawing promotions in the NWA with guys like Pat Patterson and Peter Maivia. In the early 60's,a legendary feud took place there between Ray Stevens and Pepper Gomez after Stevens jumped off the top of a ladder and delivered a Knee Drop to the Gomez's throat;it culminated in a huge match which set one of the all time attendance records for both The Cow Palace and Professional Wrestling.

Roy Shire's San Francisco promotion was my first turn on to pro wrestling in the late 70's.Playboy Buddy Rose was the United States Champion & coholder of the world tag team championship with "The Polish Prince" Ed Wiskowski(aka:Col. Debeers) They were managed by Dr.ken Ramey and were the dominant heel force everyone was gunning for.Rose had long term feuds withg Jimmy Snuka and then Ron Starr for his US belt.Rose was stripped and then Ron Starr won the vacant belt against Roddy piper which lead to a long form feud between them. Other stars in the promotion were John Tolos,Adrian Adonis(Starr's tag team partner)Red Bastein,Ron Pope(arm wrestling Champion) and of course Patterson,Stevens and Gomez!

Well, the Dakotas are a complete and utter joke, so that's why you never hear about them.

Like my fellow Washintonian said, Portland was the big territory out here. Yeah, Washington got a lot of the stuff coming out of Portland and also from Canada at the time.
