I figured what with only a couple days left in the new year...there's no real time for more albums to come out. So uh...time for my top albums of 2007! It was a great year for music, so I had a really tough time narrowing down albums for the top list...so my honourable mentions list is pretty big this year, and I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting a couple that I'll add later...but I'll start out with that. Honourable Mentions!: Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace HIM - Venus Doom She Wants Revenge - This Is Forever Thrice - The Alchemy Index Vols. I & II: Fire & Water Between the Buried and Me - Colors Kanye West - Graduation The Birthday Massacre - Walking With Strangers Bjork - Volta The Bled - Silent Treatment ...okay, there's my Honourable Mentions...at least for now until I think of more! I'll kick off the actual list here pretty soon! Hooray!

And The Shins...I like them, but I have yet to listen to their album from this year. I'll have to actually check it out.

Okay...now onto the actual list. It'll be two albums per post...just so ya know. 10. Lupe Fiasco's The Cool Sure, this album came out not too long ago...but it's still in 2007 and is amazing, therefore it made the list. It just beat out Graduation as my top hip-hop album of the year...and with good reason. Lupe is a genius, hands down. The man knows what he's doing, and writes really, really amazing rhymes. Plus it's a concept album, and I am a sucker for those. I've already listened to it a few times since it's come out...and I just don't get tired of it. It's so damn original, and has a lot of stuff you just don't hear in hip-hop most of the time, and that's definitely a good thing. Anyone who hasn't checked this album out most definitely should, even if you don't really like rap/hip-hop. 9. Serj Tankian - Elect the Dead My, but this album is addicting. I knew I'd love it from the moment I heard Serj was gonna be doing a solo album...but nonetheless, this is amazing stuff. Definitely different from his System stuff...there are SOME similarities, but a lot of differences if you actually take the time to listen. I love the subject matter he tackles...but I'm a hugely political person so that could be why. But that's not all he discusses...there's all kinds of stuff in this album, and I just can't get enough of it, it's so damn catchy and just awesome. Plus, I love his voice...I think he's an incredibly talented singer and lyricist. Go listen to it if you haven't!

Will Springsteen be on here? He's the Boss, ya know. Dave beat me to Springsteen. Okay, how 'bout Ryan Adams?

It's my favorite hip-hop album of 2007, ahead of those put out by Ghostface, Common, and Talib. He's put out back-to-back masterpieces, which is mind-boggling considering they're his first two albums.

It's insane how awesome this man is considering this is only his second album. I'm really hoping that he's just BSing about his next album being his last though. That'd just be sad.

Wasn't MCR number 1 last year. Or was it AFI?
I know MCR was definitely my number 1.

Not a bad list. I didn't dig A7x's new album...it just didn't click with me, and I've listened to it a few times. Just not my thing anymore I suppose.
And thanks for reminding me of that Funeral For a Friend album...I need to add it to my honourable mentions...'cause it was pretty awesome.

Well I still think City Of Evil is miles better than S/T, but it's still good. It's probably more heavier than City Of Evil too. which I dig.
As for worst album of the year....has to be QOTSA's new one. Just terrible. Interpol's and Kaiser Chiefs weren't that great either.

I haven't heard QOTSA's yet...but I haven't listened to them in ages anyway. I never liked them all that much. Dave Grohl's involvement was the only thing that interested me.
In any case...I dunno, I liked Waking the Fallen the best from A7x...City of Evil was decent, but I only really like a couple of tracks. I guess the hardcore element, to me, suited them a lot better than just metal. But once again, that's just me really. I just thought the new album was boring. And I can't really listen to Critical Acclaim just because I disagree with it. Petty, I know...but I can't help it.
