Looks fun, plus anything with the mysterious Racer X has to be good, lol.

I like the look. Obviously not taking itself too seriously. Also has a monkey in it.

Everything I have seen and read make me excited.
Except the directors/writers is there a way to make a convoluted Matrix version of Speed Racer?
Or maybe they have a chance to redeem themselves.

I really doubt this will be what they said about it being a Matrix version of Speed Racer. I think that's to give people hope that it won't be after the 2nd and 3rd Matrix movies

I don't know who this Emile Hirsch is but he seems to have no personality whatsoever.

I don't know who this Emile Hirsch is but he seems to have no personality whatsoever. Go rent INTO THE WILD when it comes out on DVD. That kid will get an Oscar nod for Best Actor, and probably deserve it. This booked-blockbuster could help...or hurt....his career. As for SPEED RACER itself, on one hand while I enjoyed the toons as a kid, I don't have any fond nostalgia or care anything emotionally for them. That said, it could work. Then again, the Wachowskis scripted/produced V FOR VENDETTA, which was pretty good until their 3rd act nearly destroyed everything else good about the picture.

swEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
There must be the theme song, though. It's nothing without the song. And I don't mean that little burp of it in the beginning.

i marked for john goomdman as pops Same. Though, sadly the chimp is a robot. No really, they tried filming with a real chimp, but the ape was being too difficult for them, and actually bit someone on the set so they decided to go with an animatronic chimp instead.

Is this a live action film of the old Pole Postion cartoons? First I have ever heard of this. Speed Racer predates Pole Position by decades...and given the quality from what I recall of Pole Position, they're on equal footing. I'll give the nod to Speed Racer seeing as it was the same level of animation, but 20 or so years earlier. i marked for john goomdman as pops Same. Though, sadly the chimp is a robot. No really, they tried filming with a real chimp, but the ape was being too difficult for them, and actually bit someone on the set so they decided to go with an animatronic chimp instead. It'll still be far more animated than anyone was in the original cartoon.
