so i just signed up to upgrade my dish to a HDDVR Receiver so i will be able to get HD picture from the satellite
Im kind of a newb to these things, so how exactly does it work? I see you get some hd channels (TNTHD,ESPNHD,ESPN2 yadda yadda) but am i able to receiver HD signals from channels not lableed as HD? like if im watching a local newcast on a local channel and the newcast is in HD, am i able to see it in HD or just in Standard definition?
Also when RAW goes to HD in a couple weeks, will it be HD on regular USA network or do you have to subscribe to USAHD? (i dont think dish network even has a USAHD)
so basically im an idiot and i know how SD and HD work but im curious about the channels and how it will all work.....like if TNT broadcasts some of their shows in HD, then what is the point of the TNTHD channel?

You can only watch HD on channels that say HD.
Standard channels are standard 480i or 480p and don't look too great on HD. Most channels are getting an HD version anyway in the next year or two I believe.
If Wealth can get an HD channel, anyone can. ;D

There is a separate channel for HD broadcasts (if you have cable, it should be shown on the on-screen guide). However, not every show is in HD (you can tell if there are black bars around the sides). However, you can receive HD over the air (without cable or satellite) with a simple antenna as well.

If Wealth can get an HD channel, anyone can. ;D To be fair, they might as well have titled that channel "Canadians Who Literally Have More Money Than They Know What To Do With", but it was a little unwieldy, so them being in HD makes sense. Their target audience probably has HD already.
