I had a liking for an old Nickelodeon game called Finders Keepers. It was a scavenger hunt type game, that I liked.

Wasn't one of the sound effects (if not the song) from the Eubanks version of the late '80s lifted off of another Eubanks show, Trivia Trap? I am not sure but, Trivia Trap is on in 30 minutes so I listen and see. I know the original "Card Sharks" theme with Jim Perry was taken from the Alex Trebek "Double Dare", as that was their theme as well. As for underrated games, anybody remember "Starrcade"? It was on TBS every Monday afternoon from 5:05-5:35 ET. I remember clearly it was 1983 (I would be late for softball practice because I didn't want to miss the show.) Two-on-two competition with kids trying to break a score in a given video game. It was the arcade of your dreams in 1983. (There was like 20 of the top arcade games scattered about the stage.) They'd answer a question in order to get to the video game. "OK Jimmy, you have 30 seconds to break 500 points in Berzerker. And GO!" The end of the show was wild. With the way the games were situated, they had to play 4 games and beat a certain score within 90 seconds (I think). The grand prize was usually a bike (with 5-spoked mag wheels, hussah!) and $1,000 to go towards your college fund. I think 4 teams total won it all; that 500 in Berzerker isn't as easy as it seemed. Then afterwards, my brother and I would come up with our own scores to break on our Atari games. Actually, here's the show, enjoy! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starcade

I always enjoyed Joker's Wild when it came on.
As for "Whammy" (the Press Your Luck remix), the one thing I liked about it were the "double whammies" where random things would fall from the ceiling onto the unfortunate contestant based on whatever the theme of that particular whammy was.

Ah! "Joker, JOKER! <pause> and American Inventors." That devil that popped up in the money rounds was rather creepy. I don't know if it was just seeing him up there or the fact that Bill Cullen had the voice of one of Satan's minions.

I just remembered one, You Don't Say with Tom Kennedy. It aired from 1963-1969 but like almost all NBC game shows from that era, they erased it. Here's a 1967 episode in amazing quality: youtube.com/watch?v=Kf0YNvEFm-AThat's a good one as well.

what ever happened to that other Alex Trebek games show. Classic Concentration? Went the same way as the original Double Dare (1976), High Rollers (1979), as well all the other game shows he hosted: the way of the dodo. I didnt know they had a 1976 Double Dare...I thought the early 90s one with Mark Summers was the original.

Yeah, but I felt there were too many Whammys which broke up the rythm of the game. I love Card Sharks, Match Game, Press Your Luck and Scrabble. My wife and I enjoy Lingo. Its easy to play along with and I want to be Chuck Woolery and I want to with Shandi. My wife is a fan of Password Plus, especially Alphabetics but its meh to me.

If it was up to me, there would be like one square with a prize on it and like 50 gabillion Whammy Squares.
