That was a bad idea. The thing was almost 200 big ones on amazon I think. I know this is a very popular story...but holy crap, how long has it been out of print? I can get it used cheaper...but I dunno what it'll be like quality wise. It seems as if it will be reprinted sometime this year, but I sort of want to read it right now. Agh.

It's getting re-released in a few months...
...on hardback.
Despite the fact that Dark Knight is apparently heavily based on Killing Joke, it went out of print just recently, I think, like 2005.

Yeah, I was considering pre-ordering the hardback, then I noticed you could pre-order it with The Man Who Laughs. That made my estimated shipping date...April 4th.
Yeah.
I'm gonna wait a month.

Odd thing is...now the price has dramatically dropped.
What gives?
Maybe it was a system error.

I got it at the comic shop for like 16 bucks. Course, said shop burnt down a year ago, so maybe the chick who sold it to me knew something I didn't ;D

Is "The long Halloween" any good Very. I wouldnt rate it as highly as killing joke but i prefer it over Dark knight returns. Its an engaging story, unique very Noir art style and has cameos from plenty of batmans top villains, as well as the origin of two face. And i cant agree enough with the second post in this thread, i done know how much more i can stress, if youre into comics (and especially if youre after the killing joke) then you NEED this: www.amazon.com/DC-Universe-Stories-Alan-Moore/dp/1401209270/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1202216137&sr=8-1you will not be disapointed

Wow. I have an original copy of this. I know waaay back they released several printings the first being the green font, second being red and the next one being orange and so on...I cannot believe it is worth 200 bucks now! And yet no one will probably pay that for it...

Somewhat annoyingly, yes, seeing as he appears on the cover but barely appears. However, knowing the outcome does make a lot of it very eery and impactful. It's pretty damn good, but the art is very stylised and not for everyone. If you like it, check out the other Loeb stuff - it's pretty good.
