Ah yes, the Superpower toys! You're absolutely right, those kicked butt on many levels! My favorites were always Batman, Green Lantern, Brainiac, and some green and yellow mantis looking guy. I had Superman, but lost him asap...so I don't know if he was a favorite or not, LOL! Just my opinion, but these were a lot better than the Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars toys that were out at the same time. (Although I did love the Secret Wars line, don't get me wrong, lol!)

I honestly preferred Secret Wars. Though I had a ton of these too. Where else could you get a Dr. Fate toy?

Heh, just watched the second ad.
" Batman behind bars? Brainiac taking over the computer? Joker on the elevator!?" Like, that clown bastard has to take the stairs!

I hated the stupid shields that came with the Secret Wars figures, and the sculpting/articulation of the Super Powers were far superior, but dammit....SW had Baron Zemo.

And the fact that every character came with a Liefeldesque gun, but as you mentioned Zemo, and they also had Hobgoblin and Falcon. In fact, that second release of characters was pretty random if you think about it.

Can't remember who all was in it, but seem to recall Iceman and Electro.

I remember seeing Kang figures on store shelves at like Kay Bee years later. Poor Kang.

Sadly the only SW figures I had were Classic Costume Spiderman, Captain America, Wolverine, Ironman, Dr. Octopus, Dr. Doom, Kang, and Magneto. For the longest time I thought those were the ONLY toys made in the Secret Wars line! That said, when I was a kid, those eight became my premere teams..."The Marvel Team" and "The Destroyers" (Yes, the villains were the Destroyers, and the Marvel Team were the heroes...I was a kid...I didn't know anything about "Avengers" or "X-men") Many times, Super Powers Batman and Green Lantern teamed up with the Marvel Team to stop the Destroyers who teamed with Fugly Green Power Armor Lex Luthor and Cool Terminator Looking Brainiac.

I remember seeing Kang figures on store shelves at like Kay Bee years later. Poor Kang. Oye, that came back to haunt the character!! Since I guess he didn't sell very good, they decided to NEVER MAKE ANOTHER KANG EVER AGAIN!!!! When the Marvel Legends figures came out, I recollected my favorites, Ironman, Cap, Spidey, Wolvie, Doom, Ock, Mags, even newbies like Thor, Silver Surver, Venom, and Hulk. However no friggin' Kang to complete my "Destroyers" villain group! The only Kang figure I've even seen besides the SW one, was a horrible version from the short lived Avengers cartoon series. ;_;
