I call it by the year it takes place (ceremony), because that's what everyone else does Everyone else? So, me and comahan are, what, NOTHING to you? Also, Wikipedia refers to them the same way I do. And when you have me and Wiki on your side, you cant possibly be wrong.

Haven't seen any, but the one I most want to see is "Juno", so I guess that one.

The Oscars haven't mattered to me for a long time.

Where were you in 2004? 2004 was good "Return of the King" trounced everything, it was killer Plus - Lost in Translation - Master & Commander - Mystic river - Seabiscuit Were all great movies, plus the list had a wide variety (Well as much as they allow) with it's genres That was 2003. 2004 was such blandness as MILLION DOLLAR BABY, AVIATOR, RAY, FINDING NEVERLAND, etc.

I was under the impression that the Oscars ceremony held in 2004 to determine what the Best Picture of 2003 was. Like, the Oscars coming up is to determine the Best Picture of 2007...right? Yeah "LOTR: ROTK" was released in December 2003, so it was eligible for the 2004 awards Quit this goofy logic. The Oscars are presented every year for the previous year's work. RETURN OF THE KING won for the year of 2003....but it was presented in 2004. Its like the Super Bowl. Are the Giants the NFL Champions of 2008 because the game took place that year? NO, they are the NFL Champions of the 2007 season.

To me, this is the best year since at least 2003 (or, to straighten this out, the year ROTK won 700+ awards)

Michael Clayton was my favourite film of the past year. I think it should win, but it probably won`t.

Oh shut it It's how i've known it all these years, damn you BBC Never depend on the news media. It's when they show it, it's always said oscars & the year it's being shown Instead of Oscars & Year when the films came out. So it's just burned into my mind that way

So far I've seen Juno, No Country and Atonement and I've thoroughly enjoyed all 3. Although I think Atonement is the best film out of those three I would be ok with any of the others winning. Michael Clayton dropped on my doorstep this morning and I'm seeing There will be Blood on monday so then I'll be able to say for sure. There's one thing I can't stand though, it's when people say a certain actor or film got robbed when they haven't even seen the film that won. There were a lot of people last year who went on about Pan's Labyrinth being robbed but hadn't seen The Lives of Others. I think Pan's Labyrinth is a fantastic film but IMO The Lives of Others is a better film.

Im just upset "Walk Hard" wasn't nominated. I mean, c'mon, it had Oscar Gold written all over it. (Literally, in fact I think that's what Judd Apatow and co. changed their production company name to)

I don't see where all the love for No Country for Old Men is coming from. I liked htre film, but it didn't seem to be like anything that great. It isn't even the Coen's best movie as Fargo is a much better film that deals with similar themes in a more entertaining and interesting way.

Michael Clayton was my favourite film of the past year. I think it should win, but it probably won`t. Of the bunch it's the only one I've seen, and it was friggin' brilliantly put together, and well acted.

What you mean interesting anyway?

The Lives of Others was one I truly wanted to see, and it irks me when I heard the rumor that they are going to make an english version of it.
