So im a little chubby... I havent played any sports in awhile and I work at a restraunt so ive gotten some chub. Im about 5ft 8 and prolyl 180lbs and even though Im not a disgusting blob, I kind of feel like If i lost a little weight I would look better!
So Im pretty set on what i need to do. Im busy alot so I dont have much time for excerise or going to a gym. I think If I stick to my plan for awhile I will see results. I eat out every single day and have, I get free food so basically I bring home a hamburger and 2 french fries everyday for lunch and ususally I eat some kind of take out food everynight for supper. I plan to only do this a couple of nights a week from now on. I figured that way I wont be like completely abandoning it, but a couple times a week is ALOT better than every single day.
Tomorrow I plan on going to Walmart and purchasing a cheap tredmill to place in my spare bedroom. With being busy and working alot, a tredmill is a must. I will be able to get on it when its right for me when I have time.
Basically does anyone have any tips? I already got a pretty good plan
1. More excerise less calories 2. Take a before picture to motivate me as time goes on 3. I bought a scalle that measure pounds in ., so if one week I weight 182.9 and the next day I look and it says 182.3 even though its not a Pound its still weight loss, i think that will keep me motivated. 4. I got a tv set up and or mp3 player to listen to
Basically does anyone have any other small tips that would help? I plan to cut my pop drinking down and make sure to get on the tredmill everyday
How long should I start out? Should I start out running and see how long I can( prolly tire out faster) or just do a fast walk for longer period of time.
Any other small tips? realistic weight loss goals? Would it be unrealist for me to plan on losing 2-3 pounds a week?
O and for my music.. EYE OF THE TIGER on repeat baby...

My biggest problem is that I eat out of boredom and get easily bored with working out. I don't know what it is, but running on a treadmill bores the hell out of me.... so I guess that's a pretty dangerous combination. ;D
I'd say you have some great ideas there to get started, but instead of french fries and a burger a few days a week, try grilled chicken and a side salad.

1.5-2 pounds per week is realistic and safe. You can do more, and you can do less, but this is a good goal.

Start out slow on the treadmill or you'll just burn yourself out quick.
Start maybe with 10 minutes or so, then after a week or week and a half, go up a little, and just keep going up when you still feel like you can go after the time is up. But you need to build up slowly so your body can adjust to it and you don't risk injury.

Walk, walk and walk...
Oh, and drastically cutting junk food is the solution to half of the issue.

Yep. You'll need to really cut down on that and only have it as a treat.

Are you just a small built person? Because I'm 5'10 and if I weigh below 180 people ask me if I have a terminal illness, but i have a huge shoulder build and I can't weigh what the stupid doctor chart says it's impossible.

1. Walking 2. Cut out use of salt/sugar, stuff like that 3. Less Junk food 4. Try and join a gym and go 2/3 times a week. 5. DON'T weigh yourself everyday, once a week is better for motivational purposes

Like you said cutting down on your soda is a very good start. I use to only drink soda and then as I started to drink only water because a) no calories and b) diet soda tastes terrible to me.
Another tip I have is try to start a food diary and write down everything you eat. It doesn't have to be detailed, I just write what I ate, how much exercise I put in, and how much I weighed when I weigh myself in the morning.
And don't get depressed if you have a bad weigh in! Just keep your focus because you are working to a more positive goal.

www.menshealth.com/eatthis/ Start there, if its something you'd be interested in then buy the book. You'd be amazed what you CAN eat with a small exersize program. I have always played sports, but I tore up my knee last year and boredom and inactivity added 25 pounds to me in a year to the point i was a gellatonous blob. I've pretty much stuck to this book (its not a diet) and got back to some mild jogging, playing basketball again and taking my dog for walks. I've lost 20 pounds plus since last October

well i mean im not fat by any means. I have a little belly and everything but I just want to trim down a little. My whole Life I have ate junk food im amazed im not a fatass. I would yes yes general im a small guy, but I have a thick neck and broud shoulders so I dont look like a skinny guy whos got a belly, im just thick I guess. The food thing will be the hardest, i work everyday and the food is free and im so picky when it comes to food you wouldnt beleive. I think just instead of the burger and fries every day, I will eat grapes or something for lunch... and instead of 2 fries, I will eat only one.... Im getting the tredmill tonight so i plan on starting tomorrow walking on it? I coulod prolly d some jogging but its been so long I think walking would be a better idea? Im just curious if walking will actually burn calories... if i walk for 1 hour on it... everyday www.myspace.com/adamstonebrakerthats my myspace, i got a few pics on there.. some r a little older but the ones from last night.. just give ya an idea that im not a complete fatass.. just looking to lose about 15-20 pounds. 160 would be a great weight for me

Regulate your eating and sleeping patterns. Always eat at the time of day, always go to sleep, wake up the same time.
Only eat when hungry, quit eating when full.
Portion control is also important, no one needs 3 pounds of steak. More smaller meals are better than less bigger meals.

Try drinking a lot of tea... in my time on diets (most of my life) it's really helped to fill me up and its good for digestion, plus these days they have some pretty kick ass flavors

Tea is OK but water is better. Stay hydrated.
If you haven't run in a while, start out walking and then progress to jogging.
Last thing you want to do is go too far too fast and end up hurting yourself by pulling a muscle or tendon that hasn't been used in a while.

sounds good.... do you think walkin on the tredmill for an hour everyday would be good enough to start out... I just seem to have a hard time beleiving that walking will help lose some weight....I mean people HAVE lost weight just from walking but to me it seems like nothing is happening.

I'm having problems myself. I know what to do, but I just haven't been doing it consistently. That's changing today.

Well, it is more activity than you were doing before, right?
Walking does help. But in order to really get the best results, you need to change your diet, move more, and build in some strength training.

I do a primarily cardio workout with some strength training that helps me tone instead of build mass. It really depends on the amount of weight you use and the number of reps you do.
Muscle will burn more calories, even at rest, than anything else.
