So with the new MLS season just 3 weeks away, is this the year that Beckham will finally help the yanks see that football is superior to American football in every way shape and form? Seriously when the best thing about the biggest game in American football are the ads during the breaks, there is something wrong!

Seriously when the best thing about the biggest game in American football are the ads during the breaks, there is something wrong! and the vast majority of Americans find Euro-football insanely boring. Personally I dont see the draw. But I had a friend who moved here from England who couldnt understand American Football and thought it was stupid his line was... "I don't get it, a guy gets a ball, runs a few feet, gets hit, and they stop for another minute and do nothing?" I kinda see his perspective, but MLS has tried in vain to legitimize their league and people are having a tough time buying into it.

I don't see the problem... let the US have their gridiron, and everyone else can have football.

I'm not a big fan of either sport, and as an impartial judge, I'll give real football the nod.
I've watched both, and to me American Football matches take far too long and to be quite honest, are incredibly boring. At least the soccer matches I've seen have had some semblance of interest or excitement about them.

Maybe I'm biased because soccer was our family sport & I played it for 10 years growing up. I played both in middle & high school and preferred soccer to football
So yeah not all americans think that the NFL is teh greatnezz & soccor iz teh suxxorzz!!!!!
That being said I really dont watch professional sports but just from a personal standpoint I enjoyed soccer alot more.

I really don't see why people argue over this. Are people really that petty about everything? If you don't enjoy a particular sport, fine - just don't watch.
I like both sports, and I don't have a problem with them sharing the same name. There's more important things to worry about.

I don't get why you have to say "proper" football.
That's why people get all up in arms. You're implying (although probably intentionally) that soccer is better. Which is just fine and good if thats how you feel. But don't try to start an argument that will go no where because no one will ever budge on either side.
But just let it go and stop insisting one sport is better than the other.

I hate comparing the two. They are completely different, and I enjoy both.
