I did not make Eagle because I kind of gave up on everything in high school.
OA was kind of fun, and being on the staff at the summer camp was real fun.

I made it through all of elementary school through the public city system and even won a Nation-wide award for my behavior (Who's Who In Urban Scouting in 1996), but as soon as the urban scouting went to middle school, the program became forgotten and disbanded by the time I reached 7th grade and finally taken off of the school district's payroll. If my parents would have trusted myself on my own more, I probably could have been an Eagle scout.
Meh.

Ah the OA. Boy Scout's Answer to Slavery. No talking for a day. Many hours of manuel labor and meals like an orange and a hard boiled egg.

I was in Indian Guides. That was alright. I tried getting into Boy Scouts but didn't like it. Much to the dismay of my dad who's a Eagle scout and goes to all the reunions.

All my friends in elementary school were Boy Scouts, or Junior Scouts whatever... So I applied tto, but the demand was so high I was turned down, despite trying to "oil the wheels" asking an acquaintance to help.
I was very disappointed, but when I found out what Boy Scouting is about (ie walking for hours, sleeping in the woods, strong discipline), I was rather happy about not being part of it.
Besides, I was a guest at a "party" once, and I found the interactions between the "guides" (I don't know how the leaders are called) and the little girls was a bit awkward... 16-18 years old guys around 11-13 years old girls... hmmm not a smart choice if you ask me.
