Were you ever or are you still in Boy Scouts? Discuss highs and lows.

I was, and my ability to light fires in the rain without matches is my crowning achievement in Boy Scout History... and I did it by ignoring everything they tried to teach me.
That, and drunken Scoutmaster (lawyer to boot) jokes around the fire at 2am is something every 14 year old should witness.

I was in the Cub Scouts in elementary school. The highlight was the Pine Wood Derby. The lowlight was.... everything else.

I was a scout for two days. On the first day, we were directed to make a sweet box to keep our stuff in.
I made mine rather unorthodoxly and different than everyone elses (i.e. mine was smurfing cool)
Some snotty kid commented on how mine was "wrong" or something because it wasn't like everyone elses.
This upset me to the point that I cried and never came back.
I was a weird kid o.O I can't believe I just shared that story.

I was one. I was even senior patrol leader. I then decided that I could not stand many of the guys in the troop, and walked away.

Just the Cub Scouts. I hear the Boy Scouts are more interesting. It's a very good resume item, if you intend to go to college or the military. I would attend a few meetings and decide if you want to keep coming.

My family was huge in scouting and I always thought the Boys had it waaay more fun than those stupid crafty girly scouts.
Especially when they went backpacking at Cimarron.

I'm an Eagle Scout. I enjoyed about everything about it, but the high was def. Philmont in the aforementioned Cimarron, NM. Low point, crap can't think of many. I even got my troop to make up a skit using WWF wrestlers at the time that was funny.

I went to the introduction meeting and that was it.
I was never one for school-related activities.

I went one time to Cub Scouts, but even little me knew that I didn't want to just be a popcorn pusher and said "to hell with this"....

Another Eagle here as well.
Let's see....High points....every single summer camp I went to, National Jamboree in 2005, Joined the OA, and had some great memories.
Low point, but a good story none the less would be when one of the adults on my first camp-out kept telling me to put oil in my pancakes until he finally grabbed a bottle off the counter and put it in the pancake mix. Unfortunetly, it wasn't oil, but bio-degradable soap. The pancakes after I cooked one tasted minty. We threw out the mix and made him go back into town to get us more pancake mix and some syrup.

I was for like a few weeks, tops.
What did I learn? I honestly only remember one thing I learned.

Not one myself, but am married to one. Eagle, OA, the whole schmeer. In a year or so, I'll be the mom of one, too.
And I was a Brownie/Junior, but we never did anything cool. The two highlights I remember were bagging groceries at the A&P for a project and the leader's teenage son playing us the highly controversial "uncensored" version of Devil Went Down To Georgia on his tape player. (Actually said "son of a bitch"). Other than that... useless.
