Tomorrow is the Oscars, and two of the Best Picture nominees......the Coen Brothers' masterpiece NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and Paul Thomas Anderson's equally stunning THERE WILL BE BLOOD.
Both "dark" grim movies, but friggin excellent, are neck to neck for the Oscar...
But of you folks who've seen both, which is better?
(Note: Yeah, JUNO has a solid shot of winning, but since its a light-filled box-office hit picture, and I haven't seen it.)

I think "There will be Blood" will take the Oscar home. And I got a good feeling that Lewis will take one home to.

I haven't seen There will be Blood yet, but loved No Country for Old Men. But I'm still pulling for Atonement!

No Country > There Will Be Blood, and it's not even close.
*prepares for bullets* I'm tired of Daniel Day-extreme overacting-Lewis.

I actually expected this to be another of those British upper-class family films that are normally decent but outside of the acting nothing spectacular (even moreso when you consider that Keira Knightley was one of the main stars). I genuinely haven't seen a better film in the last 12 months.

God almighty, why haven't I gotten to see these flicks yet?
I may have to make a run for the theater tonight.

RAMBO was more enjoyable than ATONEMENT.
There, I said it.
Seriously, a film has NOT bored me as much as ATONEMENT did in AGES.
I actually think THE MISSING starring Tommy Lee Jones was the last film to do so.

"there will be Blood"
"No country's" ending ruined what was a good film, "Blood" was good from start to finish.
I don't think any of these should be in the running anyway (Apart from Atonement)

I haven't seen either film (nor do I have any desire to) so I will answer this based on it title... I like There Will be Blood as it sounds like a cooler phrase.

I don't know who people could think that No Country for Old Men is a better film then There Will be Blood. TWBB has more depth, is a far better character story and gets it's point across in a far less heavy handed way. I liked NCfOM, I think it's the Coen's best film since Big Lebowski but I don't think it's all that good. Blood on the other hand it's just a fasinating study of man and the questions of his motivations and methods that pays off in the end.

And while I won't say it's not as good as movies of the last few years, it was still pretty enjoyable. NCFOM's ending was just such a piss away, that I hope they do lose. If Juno wins, then I'm going to boycott movies starting in September.
