This time from the French, when on their version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire someone is asked "What revolves around the Earth".I must say a typical dumb American I was totally stumped by this as well. ;D

Just to show you that Americans aren't any less intelligent than others. We're just more pubicly dumb as a group.

As an European I can assure you - WE ARE ALL JUST THE SAME AMOUNT OF STUPID!
That's also why I'm not a racist - I detest everyone exactly the same.

Anyone who'd get this wrong is dumb - regardless of where they come from. And the whole 'dumb American' thing could be based on the very low level of education that is received in America by the general public, as opposed to other countries.

the 'ask the audience' answer is even more amazing. Yeah, that was the wtf factor for me. One guy who happens not to know that. Fine, stuff happens. Most of the audience. Consider my mind blown.

I would argue that while the level of education is low, a bigger problem is the stigma attached to being enthusiastic about learning as "nerdy".

I like how the host even tried to give him a small hint. He was basically like "Hey... don't uh... don't just listen to the poll winner... it's VERY divded... yeah it's diveded man... so they might not uh... know what they are talking about... when it's this diveded."

I'd say he and the audience could have misunderstood the question, but the question was pretty clear, at least in the French language.
Let's dismiss that as a "cracking under pressure" moment.
And, on a side note, YOU HERETICS! The Sun does revolve around the Earth! ;D

I didn't get a "very low level" of education. Nosiree bob! The problems with America's educational system are merely regional more than anything else.
