Today marks the 15 year anniversary of Andre The giant's death. Andre's official site. www.andrethegiant.com/Andre The Giant Passed away at the age of 46 in his sleep on January 27, 1993, in his Paris hotel room, where he was discovered the following morning by his chauffeur. He was in France to attend the funeral of his father. It was later concluded that he died of congestive heart failure, a byproduct of the growth hormone-secreting pituitary tumor he had much of his life and chose not to have treated.
André's body was cremated in accordance with his wishes and his ashes scattered at his ranch in Ellerbe, North Carolina. According to his A&E Biography, his wishes to be cremated were almost not carried out, since a crematorium in France could not be found that could handle his ample frame, thus his body was shipped back to America where a crematorium was found.[/b]

Never Forget. 19/05/46 - 27/01/93 that picture has inspired the art movement that I'm currently involved in. back to Andre. I was only 10 when he died and his death was the first wrestling death that I remember.

I had pretty much stopped watching wrestling when Andre passed, but I did turn it on to see the Tribute they were gonna have for him that following Monday. All I recall was a ten bell salute offhand. I remember I wrote a paper about Andre for school. This was when they actually encouraged us to write, and well it was an assignment to write a paper for every class and my P.E. teacher suggested Andre.
Always a big fan of Andre's. I wasn't pleased with him turning on Hogan, but that played out so well, that you could kind of see Heenan's point and how Andre seemingly wasn't the same man, once "The Weasel" got in his ear.

I wonder if they'll mention the 15th anniversary of Andre (the king of battle royals)'s death tonight at the Rumble (the king of battle royal events). I would hope so...

I'm sorry but after I clicked on the link for the tribute, I had to click on "Andre Story" feature Bobby the Brain Heenan. I have never laughed so hard! LOL!
Andre was on a plane, flying first class...and was having a bit of trouble getting the arm of the seat to come up. When the stewardess came and asked him if he wanted anything, Andre told her a "screwdriver" because he liked to drink...10 minutes later she comes up to him, and hands him the tool...a screwdriver!! LOL, he asks her "What would you have done if I'd said Bloody Mary?"

My grandfather has a picture of himself and Andre together. I'll have to try to get it scanned and post it.

In his book Bobby then tells the stewardess some helpful advice, "A guy gets on the plane and it's 7:00 in the morning. He's got a plaid suit on. He's 7'4 and 550 pounds. He's got hair like the MGM lion and he's drunk. Don't bring him tools!"

Andre was one of the best. He almost crushed me at Survior Series 1989 when he was on the outside after being knocked outta the ring. lol Just how big he really was. I can't imagine how rough life was being that big.
He is missed and I wish he was still around.
