For some reason I thought it wasn't coming out for another year.... this is in May? Sweet.

I'm not sold on it at all. It looks like every other marvel comic made into a film. I have no knowledge of the character anyway and it's being directed by Jon Favreau. I like Favreau as an actor, but his track record in directing is pretty crap. Made, Elf and Zathura were not exactly great. The only reason I'd watch this would be for the greatness that is Robert Downey Jr.

I enjoyed Elf and, surprisingly, Zathura (even though I called EVERY SINGLE SCENE before it happened)..... I am stoked for this. Which of course means I probably won't like it... but I'm gonna give it a shot regardless.

I thought Elf was excellent...and while that's stylistically extremely different from Iron Man...I'd trust him just from that.
Plus this movie just looks excellent.

Iron Man looks to be among the comic adaptions that will be both appealing to the fan base and to moviegoers who may not know about it.
I like John Favereu. I really liked both Made and Elf, though they are different from Iron Man. Also helps that not only Robert Downey but also Terrance f'n Howard (I demand you see him in Hustle & Flow), Jeff Bridges and Samuel Jackson are in this thing. It looks like money.

Iron Man was practically custom made for movies. Tons of guns, shiny armors to make plenty of toys of, and an easy premise.
Too bad Marvel can't ever seem to make sense of it for comics, though. Because when I think robot suit, I think mood swings, booze, and McCarthyism.
