It happens, kid.
Whereas I haven't been laid off, I was told I'd be laid off, so I jumped pretty damn early.

Yeah, I got laid off in January, but I've been meaning to get back on the job hunt ASAP, but once I was out of the routine, my proverbial diesel engine needs starting back up.

Happened to me a couple of years ago, and it totally blindsided me. I thought for sure that I would've gone down swearing, kicking, and punching, but I was so stunned I couldn't speak. And it was a government job too, so it hurt even worse.

Yeah, being laid off sucks. One job I had used to lay us off all the damned time. Just don't make the mistake I made and get stinking drunk damn near every day for a month straight. Ah, the mistakes of youth.

Yeah, I've been unemployed since November, it sucks I know. Just hang in there. Did they at least wish you the best in all your future endeavors? UPDATE: While I was typing this, I got a call for a job interview tomorrow. Wish me luck. Remember, there's a lots of stuff out there.

I've been out of work since January, I'm trying to get a job outside the food business(I previously worked at Cheesecake Factory).

I may or may not get laid off here pretty soon. I dunno. Could happen. If I do, I know I'll be back to work come September or so anyway, it's just a matter of what to do in the meantime.

I took a voluntary layoff from my old job last winter, collected for a couple months and my employer who laid me off kept my health/dental insurance rolling until I found a new, better job!
You'll get work, stay in good spirits

My jobs being outsourced, I have three months for the handover. The last month of this will mostly involve me being paid to spend all day surfing and flirting while occasionally helping the people taking over my job.
So I now have a decision, get another IT job elsewhere but probably go through the same process again, move to CS for more money but a crappy job or move to HR to be the only guy in a department of hot women. At the moment my decision is being made with the organ that's not the heart or brain.

Try temping if you don't find anything right away. I went through something similar a couple of years ago, and it's not so bad.

I got laid off twice in '06. It sucks, but keep your head up. Something else will come along. Just don't settle for a paycheck or you might end up at 30 working at Kinko's full-time like some other schlep I know.
But get drunk tonight. I recommend it.

Don't worry, I'll hire you. Basically you just have to watch my bee's that I have captured in my backyard while i'm out. You start tomorrow, 3 am. Bring a car battery, some jumper cables and a fresh change of pants (when it happens you'll know why).

I got laid off on a Friday..and the Monday following that i went to a temp service and got a job...i recommend you do the same simply because it'll keep money flowing into your account just in case you're not getting severance pay. Plus temp jobs sometimes end up being full time job..i was scheduled to become a full time employee with the company i was working with but backed out when i got more pay somewhere else.
