Big Day Out '05 - Melbourne - In the middle of The Hives set Pele Almquist asked the crowd how they were feeling. Then asked everyone to raise their right hand, so everyone rose their right hand. And then Pele said "Now, Slap yourself in the face!" to which 50% of the crowd (myself included) thought about it and put our hands down without slapping, while the other 50% slapped themselves as hard as possible (one guy fell down, funny stuff). Then Pele asked the crowd "Now don't you feel better?" and continued on with the set. 2 reasons why I enjoyed this moment; 1) The Hives instantly became my favorite live act after seeing this and. 2) there is nothing quite as good as hearing several hundred people slap themselves. I remember that. That was awesome. Anyway some of my faves: Interpol - 2008 - Festival Hall, Melbourne - The support act was Youth Group who I do not like. And when they came on stage I swear they got a Conway pop from the sellout crowd. ;D Tool - 2002 - Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne - During the course of the gig the two performance artists from the 'Schism' music video come on stage walking on all fours. And during 'Triad' they hang themselves from the arena ceiling looking like victims of the Predator. Oh and they were completely naked. Pearl Jam/Kings Of Leon - 2006 - Rod Laver Arena - Kings Of Leon are the support act and during the final song they got Eddie Vedder to perform with them making it the first time I have seen a member of the headline act play with the support act. Pearl Jam - 2003 - Same venue as above - During the guitar solo in Evenflow Eddie Vedder has trouble removing his jumper. I laughed. Shihad - 2002 Melbourne Big Day Out - At one point during the set lead singer John Toogood looks in his pants and mentions to the crowd 'Phew! It's Still There!'.

I grabbed a girls ass at an ICP concert once. At the time, I was like 18, so if I pulled that crap now, I'm pretty sure I'd have caught a case or something. haha, that reminds me of a story from a radio station festival I went to one time. I was up front and put my hand up to pass a crowd surfer. Well somehow completely accidently when I was passing her, my hand got caught in the back pocket of her jeans (seriously, it wasn't on purpose) so as security was bringing her down, I'm trying desperately to get my hand out of her pants. I dunno, I found it kinda funny. I was way in the back, so I figured she wouldn't notice. What my teenaged brain didn't process is she was towards the back too, and her man was right next to her, so I'm lucky I got out of the concert in one piece is the point. Abd indeed your story was funny too, just I'm kind of a narcissist about this stuff. (Seriously though, hope it ended well as well )

Warped Tour 07. Bad Religion was in the midst of playing an amazing set, but since the only people who attend Warped Tour in Jersey are scenesters, no one cared. Anyway. There was a guy in a wheel chair at the edge of the pit. I didn't think much of it. He has people HELP HIM OUT OF HIS CHAIR, AND HE PROCEEDS TO CROWD SURF. Greg Graffin stopped mid song to comment on that guy showing him up, haha. Anyone who doesn't care about Bad Religion is a coward and a communist. ;D My favorite memory? Going to see the Doves play in Montreal. My friends and I had worked our way to the front for the majority of the show, which was awesome, and during their encore, we noticed that they were actually pulling people onto stage with them. Realizing we had a chance to be a part of something, we all raced to the stage, helping people up and finally got on stage with about 70 other people and the band. In fact, we were some of the last people to make it on stage and were in the front. So now people who were there in the crowd remember some jackass in long chingo shorts and a Punisher cutoff tee going nuts, and that was me. It was absolutely thrilling to be onstage in front of hundreds, if not thousands, of people cheering. I saw that night why people become rock musicians. Second best was meeting Tenacious D after their show.

gotta go w/ pearl jam on the yield tour, in 98. They had just finished w/ an encore, and the fans were still going crazy. A disco ball drops from the ceiling w/ spot lights hitting it, sending little squares of light all over the audience. The opening for Baba o'riley starts to play as lights start to come up w/ all the band in sunglasses. As the song comes to the end, vedder starts to swing the microphone in a huge diameter over and over again, before throwing it up in the air, and catching it. Giving a resounding "thank you, goodnight"

My first bf asked me out for our first date at an AstroWorld dcTalk concert. I had like him for a while, so I was totally stoked. We ended up dating for almost a year, and we're still good friends now.

On February 16 I saw Hellyeah, Machine Head, Nonpoint and Bury Your Dead at The Rave in Milwaukee. I arrived at the arena about three hours before showtime and was just tooling around outside when all of a sudden I see Robb Flynn standing right in front of me. I had my copy of The Blackening with me and he signed it as I gushed about how killer the album was, and he answered, "Happy to hear you dig it." That was awesome. Later I went to a McDonald's a block away to get some eats when I see Dave McClain walk in. I didn't want to ask for his Herbie Hancock so while we waited for our food I just talked with him about how sucky the weather was. That was really awesome. Bury Your Dead nearly backed into me with their van. That was a close call. Whilst hanging around in the lobby waiting for the show to start, I saw the swag counter selling tickets to an aftershow party with Hellyeah. I jumped at the chance and bought a ticket for $25. The show owned all kinds of ass, and Machine Head's set was short but awesome: Imperium Now I Lay Thee Down Aesthetics Of Hate Old Halo (dedicated to Dave's mom, who passed away a week prior) Davidian As I walk out into the lobby with my ears ringing, Adam Duce is at the swag counter signing stuff. Again I got my copy of The Blackening at the ready, but my damn marker had run dry! No matter--I got to meet 3/4 of Machine Head. And meeting Hellyeah was something I'll never forget. Vinnie Paul, smurfers. Vinnie Paul. So add Hellyeah and 3/4 of Machine Head to my list of Famous People I Have Met.

Bury Your Dead didn't play, though, as the one guy had gotten jumped in WI. Jerks! Machine Head got a longer set, though. And throughout that set, and concert for that matter, we were front row. PHENOMENAL. Phil would give us the devil horns every chance he got, we were rocking that hard. Joey Duenas of Anew Revolution used myself and my friend as standing posts. Either way, I've been front row for my favorite band, Index Case, three times. That's pretty kickass. Once, we drove to Minneapolis to see them, and that concert alone broke up me and my girlfriend of almost two years, because I missed a play she was in. f*** that, Index Case rules. Plus it was the first time my best friend was back from the Navy. First day, even.

Dave Martinez from the undderatted and sadly "on hiatus" C1it 45 going nuts at the Drunken Unicorn in Atlanta, with the highlight being him picking my nose and licking one of my boogers all sensuously on stage. There was something very unsettling about having someone about 5 ft. tall and smelling like he sweats PBR violating me in such a way, but I still couldn't help but laugh.
After the show, I went to the merchandise area because I spotted him talking to their rather large drummer, and Dave hid behind him when he first saw me. He claimed he thought I was going to kick his ass, but I actually just wanted to tell him he put on a good show.

March of 2000: Went to see the Dropkick Murphys with my brother.
Best experience ever.
He almost got in a fight with a skinhead over a particular Dead Kennedys shirt.
Got to sing on stage with the band towards the end of the set.

I also forgot to mention that I used to frequent a local punk/hardcore club that got shut down due to fire code violations.
Anyway, it was a decent experience. Mostly local bands. One show, I got knocked out in the circle pit.
