Whats this? An entertaining horror movie made in this day and age? Well I'll be damned. At this point it's become painfully obvious by now that Frank Darabont should be the only person to be making Stephen King moves... ever, he's the only one that gets it apparently. Now while I really liked this movie, and the novella it's based on there is one thing that sort of made me raise an eyebrow. Does anyone else find it slightly odd that what I suppose are normal people go from normal, to "lets sacrifice 'em to our Gods" types lead by an obviously insane person in the span of 24-36 hours? Now granted the situation was a bit out of the ordinary, but the quickness of which 90% of the population changed into Old Testament Religious zealots was a bit off putting. It's like if we were stuck in a plane crash in the middle of nowhere and we resulted to cannibalism on the first day. They had plenty of food, a relatively safe position, and it had been such a short time since the incident started that hope of rescue would or should have been still fairly strong. It seems like a more realistic outcome would be someone just losing it and caving in the crazy ladies skull in with a pipe to shut her up, not joining her. Just a random thought though, the movie it self was still really awesome, it's like a Cthulhu movie

I haven't seen it, but I had a friend tell me what happened since I wasn't really intrested in watching it.
I pretty much would have told any crazy old lady like that to shut the f*** up.

I didn't want to see it at all during it's theatrical run, but I keep hearing good things from everybody about it so I'll have to check it out. I'm interested in the B & W version that's with the 2 Disc Edition.

I watched it last night and loved it.
The original story is one of my favorites, and the movie did it justice.
I marked like crazy at the painting in the opening scene (DT fans who have seen the movie will know what I am talking about) and I thought the new ending was terrific.
One of the best horror films I've seen in a long damn while.

Well, from what I hear Darabont was wanting to do the Dt movie..but King sold the rights to JJ Abrams. I may be wrong about that but I swore I read it somewhere.

*Spoilers Prolly*
Other then the character Norton being WAY too skeptical and the camera shaking a little too much, The Mist was perfect. People complain about the ending and say it goes against the character, but the tagline tells you why: Fear Changes Everything.
I think its one of the best true horror movies in a long time. The whole movie was horror. Horror of what people can become. The horror of the monsters. Fear of the unknown. And the horror of knowing that even if you got the best intentions, you aint always gonna come out for the better. No poetic justice. No one came out better for it. That is true horror...

This movie scared the HELL OUT OF ME!! lol.. I was like.. so nervous the whole time watching it (all lookin around at my windows); so yeah, on an entertainment level it was good.. and truly horrorifying all the way through (will NEVER forget that girls swollen face).
And Lith.. you made a good point. Cuz as far as the ending, I was thinking, "This is just gratuitous and pointless creatively. Just to be different and make people feel bad. Make people talk about it. Make more MONEY from controversy. The Mist has no ARTISTIC merit to story whatsoever." But yeah, Lithium, I can see your point. I guess the script took an intentional direction toward the "most horrible" by reminding us that "we all know that real life doesn't always work out for the nice guy - so lets not B.S. about it, and take a look at that kind of horror". Yeah, yer right.
Oh and I also watched your Mist "edited ending" again. And actually LOVED the different score you put on there, and the way you handled the shots. pretty intense stuff. Its like really intense. so.. yeah, get a job in Hollywood dude. lolif yal aint seen it... its pretty cool (i like the end of the world stuff too). www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ODWHHQ5SPY.
