So whats the best thing to come from the area you live?
For me it has to be the Stereophonics, live about 10 miles away from where Kelly Jones and Stuart Cable are from.

From Kingston: The Tragically Hip, Don Cherry, various hockey players, most of who have played for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
From Windsor: Scott D'Amore, Petey Williams, Abdullah the Butcher, Killer Kowalski, Tyson Dux, Johnny Devine, etc etc. Oh, and our shitty economy.

Gaylord Nelson and Burleigh Grimes came from my hometown. And one of the Andersons was raised in a town just about 40 minutes away or so ... even though he was billed as being from St. Paul, Mn.

From the town I grew up in... we were known for being the first to answer the call for the Civil War and one of the five troops sent to the capital. In the Monument Square, a piece of stone sets in it that is from the same rock as was used in Lincoln's grave. I guess shortly after we received it or else after it was approved for us to receive it, the people who own the rock or in charge of it refused anyone else pieces of it.
The county is also the only place in the U.S. where Goose Day is still celebrated. There's races and stuff and the cops pull over the first person they see driving through with out of town license plates under the assumption of being arrested, only to give them some Goose meat and a key to the city.
Where I live now, Sunbury, we're famous for a few things. We're the first place to have public electricity as Thomas Edison worked here, running electricity to the train station and hotel (the Hotel was later renamed the Hotel Edison)... both are historical monuments, although ironically, his workshop isn't and half of it was bulldozed a few years back. MLB player Steve Kline grew up here and finally... we've got the world's largest fabri-dam, which is a giant inflatable dam that's set up every spring/summer to form a lake for fishing and boating and stuff.

Rod Serling was born in Syracuse, NY.
The Baldwin brothers grew up close to Syracuse as well.
Muhammad Hassan and Mike Rotunda (IRS) were raised here.
Tom Cruise and Tom Kenny (voice of SpongeBob) were born here. Richard Gere went to high school here.
But we also gave you Bobcat Golthwait and Michael Cole. We're sorry about that.
