Sometimes the south really baffles me...okay, so there is bad thunderstorms and hail that MAY turn into a Tornado, so lets blast the sirens in the town thats south of the storm...because you know, lets scare everyone who isn't close to a TV or radio...
...in Indiana, they don't blast the sirens til a tornado is ripping through a trailer park...
Oh the south, must you be so dumb?

That happened in Ohio this past week. I think that was supposed to be a test, though. I remember seeing signs posted around town saying "Tornado Alarm Drill March 26th at 9:30 A.M.".

Actually it think it was a joke. They said they suspected a inside job, and apologized to everyone for the inconvenience.

Oh the south, must you be so dumb? Well, since these storms use to cause power outages real easily, the early use of the sirens was the only way people knew to get in/take shelter and, waiting until a tornado has touched down is too dangerous. If you go to certain areas, where farming is still big, people don't always have access to cable TV and satellite/antenna TV loses signal in the storms (provided the power isn't already out) and the radio doesn't always cover the weather like they should, so the early warning they give is still of vital importance.
