LOL, Mike Hampton scratched from his scheduled start. It's not funny, but jeez. Feel sorry for the guy. No Mets fan should talk trash bout Hampton. He and Piazza made that team a WS contender.

Hampton and Pedro are the same this year. They both could mean a WHOLE hell of a lot to their teams, but they have to stay healthy.

Two strong starts out of three for Yankee pitchers. Hughes has a strong six innings.
ATTN, Yankee/Tigers Offense: Where the f*** you at?!

They both could mean a WHOLE hell of a lot to their teams, but they have to stay healthy. The athlete gets old. Even the good ones. The body gets weak. The salary and expectations get high. The risk heavy. A good pitcher going down can sink a team or it can show a team who it's real pitchers are. It sucks to watch an important cog fall out of someone's machine though. Anyone's. I've no interest in watching my team best another's without some key players. I'll take the Ws, but it doesn't tell you the full story.

The true season begins tomorrow night in Atlanta. I can't wait: the Mets/Braves rivalry will mean something again this year, as they're the two clear best teams in the division. Spare me the Phlukes nonsense. John Maine vs. Tim Hudson should be a REALLY fun matchup. Haha. Phlukes. Funny. I love how everyone is sleeping on the Phils this year. It's gonna be a tight 3 team race this year and I wouldn't be surprised if the Phillies, Mets, or Braves won it. Injuries are the thing that's probably gonna decide the divison.

I swear, it seems that guy blows every game where he has even a small bit of pressure put on him. I've said it for the past 2 years, Riccardi, Gibbons, someone, PLEASE TRADE HIM!!!

Scott Downs is easily one of the best setup lefties in the American League. I'd take him over Billy Traber and/or Hideki Okajima. You can't really single out people in games that were well-played like that.

Anyone else catch Bobby Cox in action last night? Brings in Chris Resop to pitch, moves him to left-field to bring in another reliever to set up a lefty vs. lefty matchup, then puts Resop back on the mound to face another batter (and give up the hit that drives in the go-ahead run).

I might host an AIM chat to kick off the Mets-Braves series tonight. Anyone down with that?

But Juan Uribe doesn't hate you. In fact, he rather likes you. Why do you make it so hard for him? Juan Uribe: zero errors, 1 HR. Jermaine Dye: two plays running into the CF, one ball dropped for an error, zero HR. Juan needs to teach Jermaine that "Yo la tengo" means "I got it". Either that, or get JD a good ear wax removal kit.

Insomniac, do you really have to ask if ANYONE saw that? Really? By the way, it was awesome and fun to watch. I really didn't mind it even if it didn't work because with the Mets coming to town, just playing an extra inning game on Monday and it being in the mist/wet field I kind of wanted that game to end win or lose. Like I said, it was fun to watch that though, and it almost worked.

Okajima is about two seconds from being figured out by the entire American League.
