Does Superman overcome the odds if he and Thor fought in a battle of death?

Yes, cuz despite the fact that Thor is magic based, the inscription on Thor's hammer says whosoever is worthy can use it. I don't think there is a person who'd be more worthy than Supes.. so once the Odinson has to deal with a Mjolnir wielding Superman, it's all over.

Plus Thor struggled to deal with Juggernaut a while back, so I'd think Superman could take him.

I would agree, but I think this battle depends entirely on where it takes place at. On Earth, I would say you are 100% right. But in some Norse magic land, or even Asgard itself.....I think Thor would take it. Come on....Odin is not going to sit there and let his son get his ass kicked by some alien from another planet. He's going to blot out the sun, Supes' powers go buh bye, and Thor caves his skull with Mjolnir, after which he has a righteous orgy with Lois, Lana Lang, Selina Kyle, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and every other hot chick in the DC Universe. Even Renee Montoya. The Odinson would convert her on the spot.

Superman in the pure sense.
Although, in the superickery.com sense, he'd have no chance in hell of wielding the Mjolnir, though he might politic his way to victory anyhow.

Thor was once(sort of) played by the same man who played Private Pyle in Full Metal Jacket. This fact alone causes me to deduce that Thor would win.

Thor of course. He's a god, Superman is just an alien. Plus he's vulnerable to magic which Thor has plenty of, his main weapon is an enchanted hammer afterall.

Supes, because Thor would waste too much time ranting in pseudo-shakespearean prose

I love Superman, and am indifferent to Thor, but even I have to agree on this. Also, I read it in one of Wizard's "Last Man Standing" columns way back when. Thor wins.

Yes, but in my first post I solved the whole hammer deal. Superman wins. Wouldn't he have to get the hammer away from Thor to begin with? Yeah, I was assuming he would in that I'm guessing he's faster than Thor and he can actually fly. Thor doesn't fly remember he just swings the hammer around, tosses it, and hangs on. Plus I'm thinking Kal is a little bit smarter than Thor.. Thor's battle tested no question, but I'm betting he's more likely to charge into a fight trusting in his power to work, whereas Superman is gonna use a bit more strategy. It'll be a knockdown drag out and the Man of Steel is definitely not walking away unscathed, I just think he'll be able to outlast Thor.
